Are cardboard VR headsets any good?

Is it worth getting a cheap chinese headset for the experience? If so, what apps/games are good for my samsung?

I think really VR from your phone is only as good as the phone you are using for it, don't think it really matters on the headset, unless you want more functionality and all the bells and whistles.
