Agree Simpson has been shite especially with his aimless balls pump forward, but I still have him ahead of Albrighton at right back, Albrighton can play Wing back but God not right back, he was absolutely clueless when we played Chelsea and got exposed every time, he didn't know where he was, playing people onside, letting players run behind, not his fault as the team was a shambles with ndidi at centre back. Maybe I try benny or amartey there....

And so you highlight the problem, even with your own selections...we really don't have the ready-made options we should have.

I'm still not convinced a crash course on the training ground wouldn't improve Albrighton's understanding of the full-back role - and quickly.

If not, my first instinct would be to change the coaches.

Albrighton's a responsible player who follows instructions and is not afraid of hard graft. He'd willing and able to learn I'm sure.

Craig Shakespeare does all the training so are you suggesting we change him? If Albrighton was a full back he'd have spent his career there. Square pegs round holes is not the answer.

I'd be amazed if he does all the training but whether he does or not wouldn't negate all the concerns about preparation I've mentioned even in relation to recent performances.

And you're quite mistaken in saying because someone is a full-back he'd necessarily stay there or in any other position apart from goalkeeper. Even our own Chilwell has been used further forward. And countless other players. There are also plenty of examples of wingers becoming full-backs at some stage of their careers.

Other than James Milner (who most Liverpool fans would rather not see at full back) I can't think of any.

Antonio Valencia and Victor Moses right now, Jeff at LWB too, if you ignore how poor he was as an out and out LB

Valencia and Moses are slightly better players than Albrighton!  And they're wing backs. The poster was saying Albrighton could be converted to a right back.

IncidentalIy, I don't mind Jeff, said it a million times, he's better than Musa.

Chilwell playing further forward was a joke. He's a left back. The end.

He showed quite enough ability in the position not to abandon the concept. Indeed, as a principle, modern football clubs prefer players to be competent in more than one position amd that makes complete sense. He wasn't a joke at all. He was an apprentice learning his trade and involving himself very well. Of course he made mistakes but even those were often in trying to be positive.
