cheshamfox17 Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Hey everyone, on top of my love for Leicester, since moving to Sweden in August of 2015 I started going to Swedish games and my local team IK Sirius got promoted to the Allsvenskan in 2016 and the 2017 season started this weekend. Its a super interesting league with maybe 4-5 teams who could win the title and 4-5 who could go down, it averaged over 3 goals a game last season, the fan culture is really impressive, there are lot of good tifos and pyro displays (as you can see from the pictures I've attached) and of course Jonas Olsson. Also, with no international football over summer this year (apart from I guess the Confed cup) the Allsvenskan will run for a bit of June and all of July so it can provide a nice little fix while the Premier League football is away. I wrote an article previewing the season just in case anyone is interested its here: http://boxtoboxfootball.uk/allsvenskan-2017-team-by-team-guide/
SemperEadem Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Fan culture in Scandinavia is up there with some of the best in the world.

Yeah its great, the only real issue is that because away fans here are only starting to reflect the kind of loyalty you get in England, the Swedish FA are pretty bad at game times, like Sirius are playing Östresund at 19:45 on a Wednesday and its a 7 hour drive each way so really you'd have to take two days off work. On the bright side to go to every single match both home and away for Sirius costs less than 200 quid
MC Prussian Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Went to see a Djurgardens game when we had our summer training camp in the Stockholm area under Eriksson in 2011. Loved sitting in the Olympic Stadium against Mjällby IF. Also remember the old-school, no-nonsense pitch at Brommapojkarna and how tight it was at Hammarby's Söderstadion (now closed) - wooden benches!
