Left back who signed for Southend - surname is the same as a modern day bar

The ex-Stoke player has the same name as a Newcastle goalkeeper who played at the time

The left back for Middlesbrough has a son who is a current manager in the lower leagues

The 70's is my favourite football era in case you hadn't realised! :scarf:

I knew that I had to get you back Blue Fox, to bring the thread back to life. Tuna is a bit like Gray, lots of potential and ability but it will take time to reach his full potential! Hope you like the new format - should have enough material to get past the quarter century mark!

Correct. For a bonus point, why was Asa Hartfoed a 'whole-hearted' player?!

The Leicester link did not play for City, but was there in another capacity

Gary Megson?

Asa Hartford was diagnosed with a hole in his heart. I think that was when he was at West Brom in the early 70's before signing for Man City.

He came along slightly later. Always thought that we should have signed Neil Whatmore, as he was a good goalscorer

Yes Whatmore was good. Bolton missed out on promotion to the old first division a few times in the late 70's before eventually making it at about the third or fourth attempt.
