Except that we never really played to these players strengths anyway...

They are both traditional strikers who feed of good crosses.

 

Yet we weirdly never adapted our play enough when they were on the pitch to provide them with crosses (apart from some of the Euro Champs League games for Slimani). I don't know why that was?!

So if our style is going to be more tiki-taka now with Puel anyway then I can see why he's moved them on. 

 

We still have heaps of players who can partner Vardy up-front for his style of play:
 - Okazaki (who links the midfield with forwards better than anyone and can hold the ball up better than either Slim and Ulloa could)
 - Iheanacho (better finisher than both)
 - Diabate (quick, direct and appears to be better finisher)
 - Barnes (one for the future)
 - Gray (more direct, more creative)
 - Mahrez (more direct and always a goal threat).

 

Similarly with King going out on loan. Iborra and Silva have the creative midfielder slot down. James and Ndidi have the more combative midfield role. Goodness knows why he played James and Ndidi together last night.

As some others have said a couple of top-quality wing-backs on both sides would really add some useful depth in the summer!

Disappointed we didn’t get a right back - apart from that we held on to our best player and cleared out four players which should balance the dressing room and provide space in the summer to sign upgrades that fit and improve the squad. We’ve also finally completed the Silva deal and signed a couple of prospects... Happy days to be fair.

I didn't expect us to move half as much as we did haha. Hence why that was the only disappointment
