Name one game then where we did well due to Levein's tactics/strategy.

And if you say Wolves away then you're an idiot because that's not football, it's murder of a beautiful game.

Thought that would shut you up.

I don't like to go on about the past but we did do quite well to beat Charlton last season. Played 5 in midfield if I remember rightly and kept their midfielders pretty quiet like Murphy and Rommedahl. Think Matt Holand played too. Think that was a good example of us going into a game with a plan and it working to our advantage.

Now I think about it, you're right.

I was there and really enjoyed that day.

Good delivery from corner and finish by DD too at the end. :D

When we have to harp back to the Charlton away game, which was in February (8 months ago!), to recall the last time Levein showed some tactical nous, that's when you know you're in trouble.

I wouldn't say that was the last time but it's the most memorable for me. I'm sure Levein used some sort of tactical nous against Watford on Saturday too but I wasn't there so I can't say myself.

We were pretty poor against Watford according to a lot of people (who do tend to give fairly genuine, frank and reliable assessments of our performances) and Watford just managed to play worse. Sprinkle in a bit of luck and hey presto, a rare 3 points, despite and NOT because of Levein's tactics.

Fair enough. lol

I very rarely trust what anyone tells me about a City game unless I've seen it myself and as I haven't been to an away game since Blackburn and we haven't won many games at home either under Levein then I must admit I'm struggling to come up with examples of his tactical nous either. I'm actually fuelling your Levein out campaign without meaning to. :(;)

No need to be ashamed mate. You can support Levein and it's up to you whether you think he's a good boss. I just think that people have to understand why a lot of supporters aren't convinced about him.

I can understand your view too. Results haven't been brilliant at all and the performances at home, as a STH, haven't been good enough either. It's just the constant changing of manager that I'm against. I can't see how it would benefit a squad mostly assembled by Levein to lose Levein at this stage. In an ideal world CL would be more charismatic because that's what I feel we lack at the moment. He's made some potentially good signings, the quality of the coaches is good but sometimes I think you need to have more than just a footballing brain to be a success. You need to be a people's person. You need to be able to motivate people or keep their heads up when they're down. What I've seen from Levein it's like it's him and then the players rather than everyone in it together. Anyway, I'm sticking with him for now.

"The supporters turned on them after the final whistle and boss Levein said: "I can understand the fans' frustration - we seem to take two step forwards and one back."

When, I wonder, does Levein think we took TWO steps forward?

de lump stepped over the half way line lollollol

Yep, he definitely doesn't have the charisma or passion to 'fire the team' up like Stuart Pearce, Alex Ferguson, MON, or even Mourinho. I know I've compared him to fiery characters who are at the top of their level and people could use Wengner, Sven, or Benitez as examples of softer/quieter managers - but they have the creme de la creme of footballers at their disposal. Levein doesn't - and it's the passion and fighting spirit of charismatic managers that brings out the extra 10/20% in every player.

Jeez. I'm too frightened to go to bed now. :(

Sorry. It could also explain my insomnia.

Unless someone starts spouting sh it about needing time to gel etc. Then I'll get angry.

But a team which has been together over a number of seasons and has time to 'gel' do tend to fair well in the Championship, ala Sheff Utd and Reading.

I agree. It's true. Most teams that get promoted out of this league have had long time managers. Not many haven't. Stick with Levein for a few years. Things aren't that bad at the moment anyway.
