Youtube on ipad 1

My daughter has the ipad 1 and has only ever used it to watch cartoons on youtube.

Youtube has recently stopped working so im guessing the ipad just isnt compatible anymore.

Any suggestions?

14 views and no replies means everyones getting their old ipads out of the garage and seeing if they can still get youtube........................

Basically as Apple iterate their garbage O/S it deprecates older versions of the hardware's comparability with applications.

 

There are loads of 'fixes' out there but implementing some of them could take you places you dont want to go.........

To be honest it’s impressive that the iPad is still usable as it’s a 9 year old device.

 

As Maddogg points out Apple have something of a reputation for built in obsolescence. 

 

Though I would suggest that YouTube from 9 years ago is somewhat different from what is now - and like iOS, it’s had 9 years of improvements & changes that make it almost incompatible. 

 

Couldn’t she just use YouTube.com on a browser?

Don’t use the app. Use safari as urban suggests.

Hi,

the only option for getting Youtube native app to work is:

 

1. Jailbreak

2. install Cydia

3. install TubeFixer for iOS form IPG's repo

4. install YouTube Fix #1 from  Heaven iPhone repo

 

Then the old Youtube application works again .. If not, try YouTube Fix #2 or YouTube #3 from Heaven iPhone repo.

For me Fix#1 working.

I think it will no longer be possible to watch Youtube via Safari on iPad1  :-(
