Thracian Posted 11 November 2005 Posted 11 November 2005 Just been watching the Tony Cottee interview and a review of some of his goals. Smashing bloke, talks glowingly of his time at Leicester and the abilities of MON but if ever there was a bloke worth watching on a would-be strikers guide on How to Make Something Out of Nothing it is Tony Cottee. Tony wasn't stronger, faster, or a better dribbler than anyone else, nor did he have the fiercest shot. But he sure made the best of what he did have. Quick off the mark and inclined to hit the target more often than not he made runs into places where he was so hard to mark and trusted in his ability to threaten goal when he got there. He was forever on the move, little runs this way, longer runs that, asking questions and when he wasn't scoring himself making space for others. What an example and what a professional. A credit to himself and a credit to the club. If only we had his like in the team today.
The People's Hero Posted 11 November 2005 Posted 11 November 2005 Tony Cottee is an absolute legend. He just knew where to be and took his chances. MON looked for that in a player... Levein just looks for hard work in a striker it seems. It's the only link I can see between Hammond, de Vries and Hume.
