This thread reminds me of a central news story in the 90’s when we got to a play-off/league cup final. The tickets had gone on sale to season tickets, members, priority and then general sale. On the first day of general sale overnight queues were circling filbert street, so the staff realising that there was a large number of people already queuing and limited tickets left opened the ticket office and started selling them around midnight. By morning those in the queue had got their tickets, the final was sold out.

Next evening central news ran a story about a disgruntled family who had rocked up just after lunch and complained that they sold the tickets early. Not season ticket holders or members, no priority so hadn’t been to the priority matches and couldn’t be bothered to get there early, yet they felt they should have had a right to a ticket still.
