Seems to be vanilla - and yeah - there are a lot of expansions.

 

Is this like Civ? Ie don't bother until all expansions are out and you can get the full package?

Shit thats a lot of DLC and a lot of it is still 15.99!

So, yeah. Paradox have what I personally think is a horrible business model. They essentially release a fairly empty but well polished game and then spend the next five or six years continuously developing it for like 15 quid a pop. 

 

To buy the whole game it ends up costing, through a slow creeping process, hundreds of pounds for something that's barely any more involved than Football Manager. 

 

EU4 is a great time sink if you take the time to learn it but you've got to really, really want to play it if you're going to get your wallet out because it quickly stacks up.

Humankind is historical and easier to get in to than other games like it, it's more like civ than ck3 but a lot more friendly for kids.
