How Premier League clubs play in 2021-22

This is interesting from the Athletic!

(Not sure about our set pieces score 👀)

Why is 4-4-2 so out of fashion when we won the league with it not so long back?
Is it really stone age? Not saying we should adopt it. Just asking the question.

Look at our progressive passes and dribbling!

Would love to see how we compare with other teams for sprints. We don’t make enough sprints to make space in the final third IMO.

Teams defend plenty of times in a compact "two banks of 4" shape but they just dont maintain a rigid formation with the ball.

Interesting. However my initial two takes are unsurprisingly

We are rubbish at set price defending

Norwich are rubbish...

Scary how similar we are to Leeds, who look very likely likely to be relegated.

Great post @pkonline. Hopefully these weaknesses will be addressed in the summer window.
