Average age is 9th in the league, so not really.

Average isn't that useful as it skewed by the outliners in the squad Vardy (35), Kasper (35), Evans (34), Jakupović (37)

2nd table here gives average weighted for minutes played, which is what I was citing. So Jakupovic isn't included. Granted the outliers will skew it a bit.

On that we are joint 8th as Spurs Squad has the same average age. (26.5)

Spurs have only Lloris (35), Doherty (30) , so take out both teams outliners we will be younger, so that puts us 7th with looking at it further.

Which is why the graph at the sat of the thread is more useful in my view.

Our wing play is a massive issue. My thoughts;

LB Thomas (don't rate enough, lack of pace getting up the pitch to support playmakers, losing balls in tight spaces and poor dead ball attributes). Can't play RB.

LB/RB Justin. Can play both wings, predominantly RB with LCB if necessary. Has the athletic attributes and pace and defensive cover.

LB/RB Castagna. My pick for RB but equally as good LB for pace, skill and moving the ball forward. Accurate at throw ins and forward intricate play.

Justin/Castagna - tick (but need LB cover)

Consistency? There is a huge gap in Thomas's positional play and therefore the teams rhythm when he plays. When he doesn't and Justin/Castagna play it throws that rhythm for the midfielders away. Like it or not we as a team only play well when we play in straight lines across the pitch. Countless times I've seen Thomas too high and not getting back and the opposition knocking balls over his head or vice versa on the right flank.

The RW we need (Bererdi IMO) isn't overly fast but quick enough. With Justin or Castagne behind him then that's perfect for me.

But this throws the left flank out unless you have Castanga as LB.

Which leads me to needing a new LW. Barnes is fantastic don't get me wrong, but the top teams know exactly how to handle him because he isn't quick enough with introverted one touch two touch play nor can he spray cross balls across field accurately as he's right footed.

IMO the balance for the left side needs addressing as much as the RW side and I would suggest another LB (with height which would mean placing Thomas on the bench).

I need our attacking midfield sorting out this season as much as our LCB. We won't get there unless we have balance, athletism and height in these key areas.
