Hoping there are some car audio experts on here.

I'm replacing the 4 main speakers on my MK4 Golf.

I'm fitting 2 way speakers in place of the original speaker, and using adapter plugs for the wiring so there's no cutting/rejoining of the old wiring.

In the door panels there are separate tweeters and my question is because I'm fitting 2 way 'main' speakers do I still connect up the old tweeters as well or just leave them unplugged?

Any advice appreciated.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the car wired up with crossovers from the amp meaning there's no point in using 2 way speakers?

Anyone remember when you just pulled the bog standard factory fitted player out of your car and replaced it with a third party player by Blaupunkt, Kenwood or JVC? One size fits all, snatch plate in a case, maybe a bass tube.

 

Those were the days, when even a run down old banger might have decent ICE.
