Hi, my train from Suffolk was cancelled this morning meaning the earliest I’d get to St Mary’s Stadium would be 15:30. Due to some really bad train experiences recently, and the possibility that I may be further delayed, I decided not to go.

Does anyone know whether i can claim for the loss of my match ticket from the train company? Thanks

Doubt you’d get anything other than fare back. Sometimes the crooks deduct an admin fee from that as well.

If you decide not to travel due to a cancellation you should never have an admin fee deducted. If that ever happens I’d definitely challenge it as it shouldn’t be happening. As you say though there’s nothing you can do against the loss for the match ticket unfortunately.

If it’s a specific train your ticket was booked on and it was cancelled I think you’ll be eligible for a refund. If it’s an open ticket and is simply not used by you (Ie it’s not scanned or goes through a machine) you can get a refund as it’s a refundable ticket (nice little trick if you travel and you don’t get scanned and the barriers are open, get your money back and trip for free).

Yes I think I’ll start doing that because they’ve messed me around so much in the past year. After one home game last season they cancelled my train meaning I’d be stranded in Norwich with no way to get the 24 miles home other than by cab. The response at Leicester ticket office , quote “Not our problem”

You can claim the taxi cost back. Call then and keep cab receipts
