Jordan Posted 18 December 2005 Posted 18 December 2005 I listened to Mogwai's upcoming album, "Mr Beast"--IMO it's great stuff, perhaps their best album yet. It's not as dark and moody as some of their earlier recordings but there are some songs (like "Glasgow Mega Snake") that are very heavy indeed (the rockin' kind of heavy, not the get-stoned-and-say-things-like-"dude, that's heavy, man,"-kind). "Travel Is Dangerous" is great--although I think I've heard something very similar before but I'm not so sure. There are no long songs (everything is in a range of around 3:30-6:00). I think it comes out in March on both sides of the Atlantic, and from my first impression, I'd say Mogwai fans ought to be very excited for this.
Mark Posted 25 December 2005 Posted 25 December 2005 Great album. I agree with the two songs you mention, Travel Is Dangerous is fantastic. I'm a big fan of We're No Here also, reminded me of early Explosions in the Sky.
rotherhamfox Posted 29 December 2005 Posted 29 December 2005 It is bloody good i got it a few days ago.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 Got one of their albums but unsure which one - so will have to check. Robert Smith from The Cure loves 'em so must be a great band !!
