So I saw the Jays signed pitcher Dylan Cease to a 7 year 210 million dollar contract.

I look him up, because I don't follow the game too closely and his record last year was 8-12 with a 4.55 ERA.

Then i hear them talking about his 'potential' and i look and see that he turns 30 this month.

I guess the Jays feel like he's worth it and hopefully he is.

The pitcher W/L statistic is an abomination imho, not reflective of a pitcher's performance, and obviously heavily influenced by how your offense happens to perform on the day.

Not his best season last season but career wise this guy is a quality pitcher. Career ERA average below 4, including a 2.2 2022 season when he was runner up for the Cy Young award. The Jays starting rotation is looking quite strong! Throw in bullpen signings Chase Lee and Tyler Rogers, and the fact that we might get Kyle Tucker and/or keep Bo, I am definitely hopeful of another great season :)

Living in the UK, reasonable game times are generally limited to weekends so I try to make the most of it. When the Jays are at home on the weekend they usually start at either 6pm or 8pm-ish UK time, otherwise the games are generally in the early hours and I have to make do with MLB.com highlights..

I feel like for the first time in over 10 years, I will follow a bit closer this season.

It was cool getting to know the Jays lineup during the playoffs.

Vladdy Sr was one of my all-time favourite players(back when he was with the Expos), so of course I've always been a Vladdy Jr fan.

Clement and Yesavage are new favourites.

Must be nice following a club that invests.

During each winter, the only element of suspense for the Guardians is what star player they trade for prospects.  This year ... will they offload Steven Kwan?
