Our 25 man squad has to be named today (7pm), we still have more than 25 players (over the age of 21) - who will be in and who will be out? The only obvious omission, will be Souttar, who probably won't be fully fit and available, much before January.

Who are the 25? By my count it's 23 players who are 21 or over...

Leicester City can sign four free agents with former favourite available after contract annulled
Leicester City have plenty of room for free agents although Marti Cifuentes is not likely to be eager to add more players to his squad, given his preference for a small group

Leicester City are set to have four available slots for free agent signings, and with one of the club’s former favourites available after cancelling his contract.

Championship sides are allowed a maximum of 25 players in their official squad list but do not need to register players considered under-21s.

For this campaign, players born in 2004 or later are considered under-21s, meaning nine of Marti Cifuentes’ 30-man group would not need to be registered in City's 25-man squad.

New signing Jordan James was born in 2004, but will need to go onto the 25-man list because all loanees have to be registered no matter their age.

Still, City have plenty of scope to bring in free agents, albeit their enthusiasm to do so may be limited.

That’s especially true for Cifuentes, who still has a big group to work with despite his eagerness to streamline his squad.

One of the most interesting names among the available free agents is former City striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Nigerian cancelled his contract with Sevilla on deadline day, meaning he is free to sign for whichever club wants him.

Iheanacho only joined Sevilla last summer, on a free transfer from City, but failed to make an impact and spent the second half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough. He didn’t get on especially well there either.

In all, he played 26 games last season for the two clubs, scoring four goals.

The 28-year-old is now seeking a new club and may yet get a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.

Adam Idah left Celtic Park to move to Swansea on deadline day, but with no striker arriving in his place, leaving Rodgers short of options in attack.

There have been reports that the Scottish champions will now make a move for Iheanacho.

While occasionally frustrating, Iheanacho delivered in periods during his seven years at City, finishing with 61 goals and 36 assists in 232 games.

He was instrumental in the club’s FA Cup success and he remains the club’s all-time leading cup goalscorer.

Players City have to register: Stolarczyk, Begovic, Ricardo, Choudhury, Okoli, Vestergaard, Souttar, Faes, Kristiansen, L Thomas, Skipp, Winks, James, Soumare, Ramsey, De Cordova-Reid, Marcal, Mavididi, Ayew, Carranza, Daka.

Interesting as my understanding was that Jordan James wouldn't need including as he only turned 21 in July.

Just leaves Souttar who could still be added if my understanding of the rules is correct

Just re read it and you're correct. But even including Souttar it's only 21 players. No worries at all

Plenty of leeway.

Is Andy King fit?
