foxes_fan Posted 30 December 2005 Posted 30 December 2005 I have just installed Windows XP on my pc in my bedroom, and i get to the usual log in screen where you click your name and enter you password, i do that then when it begins to load up it just freezes! HELP!

Hitesh Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 ok...well try google and then the microsoft web forums. Or you could try and re-install windows! That might help! Or try and run in safe mode. Restart the computer and press F8 before it loads up windows. and then run in safe mode. You can then check to make sure everything is installed and even try and create a new user profile and see what happens when you click that!
foxes_fan Posted 4 January 2006 Author Posted 4 January 2006 I took it round to a neighbour who knows his stuff and it was the graphics card, the graphics card that was in it before was only 4MB or something. So hopefully that will be the end of the problems. As for being on the net when it was freezing up, i have 2 PC's

That might just be enough to run a non-windowing GUI nowadays... Still, WindowsXP was not very helpful there... it should have checked the hardware requirements before actually failing to load Windows! That way it could have just written out what the problem was (in a command-line type interface) (But I guess they forgot to do that kind of checking hehe)

They just get all their software on asap and dont care much about the performance!
