Matt Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 I'm looking for a new one, What is the best around, for a reasonably cheap price, I only really want a basic laptop, I have heard Dell is good for offers at the moment, just wondering what people with some computer knowledge would suggest?
Jon the Hat Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 I'm looking for a new one, What is the best around, for a reasonably cheap price, I only really want a basic laptop, I have heard Dell is good for offers at the moment, just wondering what people with some computer knowledge would suggest? I use Dell at work, where we have tech support, and I have no problems on either laptops or desktops. I've heard that their after sales service is a pain in the arse to deal with though. Then again you get what you pay for. I would compare with the kit they sell at Currys, as their at least you can walk in a talk to someone if it goes wrong.
Hitesh Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 Dell is good as is Evesham but they can be pricey. In terms of Dell after sale support, its shite! Call centres in India dont work!!!!! but you dont get many problems with Dell and they are cheap and basic. Also, Toshiba are good for Laptops but i have never owned one so i dont know much about them.
Matt Posted 7 January 2006 Author Posted 7 January 2006 Well my old laptop was Dell, it was second hand, The screen went dodgy on it, so I took to a computer bloke who fixes my PC/Laptops, and he said he couldn't do anything so he said the solution would be to send it Dell to be fixed which cost £40 just to send it to them, If the problem would cost more than £100 to be fixed they would then send it back and if I wanted the problem fixed I would then have to send it back to them so I said don't bother, I'll get a new one, for what it costs, I might as well have a new one!
