Cat Burger Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 Right, we all heard about Connolly before he came - the temper tantrums, the not being happy at being subbed, his supposed lack of teamwork, but we all know about his good side. Why then does Micky Adams choose to take him off after bringing him on after 30 or so minutes!?! surely thats going to p*ss the player off and make him NOT want to play for us. I cannot afford to go to the games, so can someone at least shed some light on why this happened please?? I am baffled and rather angry that our manager can be tactically THAT BAD and lack the ability to foresee how much it might unsettle the player...
Wellman Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 Tommy Wright came on for him with about 5minutes left. MA should of brought of Dublin instead of Connolly anyway
New England Fox Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 Connolly had been pretty ineffective since he had come on but it wasnt really his fault. Because yet again we were hoofing long balls up field, the only time he could get a touch was when he dropped deep to pick it up so often he was too far away from goal to make a difference. I really couldn't believe that he took off Connolly and not Dublin however as Dublin was complete shit all game.
Benji Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 i agree that connolly should have STARTEd on the bench to teach him a lesson for the red card which is probably micky's reasoning, and plus its harsh to drop benji after playing like he did against gillingham however his bringing off was ludicrous! dublin began to walk then when connolly found out he was just stood bewildered i can't see why he came off though, every time he got the ball he looked like he wanted to shoot however, if tommy's header would have gone in the kop's 'dont know what your doing' would have been quickly silenced
Hullfox Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 Very very wierd decision. 23921 Very weird. And as for Tommy Wright, if he can't score from 6 yards with his head he can go back to the reserves.
Highland Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 On the commentary,Bassett said that the problem was nobody was playing the ball to Connelly's feet and its no good hitting high balls up to him.Maybe he should be telling MA this and not the listeners, still rich coming from Bassett though like he never used the 'long ball'.
Guest Daniel Posted 2 October 2004 Posted 2 October 2004 Shit decision from Micky, where have i heard this before?
Ash Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 It was a bad decision from Micky, also a weird one , Dublin should of came off not Connolly , I felt sorry for David
Wellman Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 also he thought everyone was booing him, but we were actually all booing at the decision. I hope he realises this
Hoof Fox Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 Could not believe that decision IMO Connelly worked tirelessly trying to make something happen, was fed on scraps and hoofs but kept working for the team, for then Adams to sub him, whilst Dublin was a disgrace he should be ashamed of that performance. Adams should have bought Wright on for Dublin after about an hour. Odd comment by Adams regarding Connelly on Radio Leicester, that he is being rested on monday cos he is getting married. Hope this isnt another smokescreen meaning that Connelly is on his way out like Keown last week. He is bound to be pissed off after what Adams did yesterday just wonder whether it kicked off in the dressing room after the match.
Anish Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 Very very wierd decision. 23921 Very weird. And as for Tommy Wright, if he can't score from 6 yards with his head he can go back to the reserves. 23923 Give the guy a break - he's proved he is capable in the reserves. Dublin is the one who should be going into the reserves after yet another abysmal performance.
Bluefoxtim Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 Dont MA want to win the game? Surely Tommy should have come on for maybe a defender. With longer than 4 minutes to go. We are always so negative
Scow Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 Dont MA want to win the game?Surely Tommy should have come on for maybe a defender. With longer than 4 minutes to go. We are always so negative 23964 We were playing 3 strikers actually in a 4-3-3. Scowcroft, Dublin, and Connolly. However, it just baffles me why Adams chose Connolly, not Dublin. Where's the logic in that? At least Connolly put some effort in to the game, dropping a bit deeper and spraying the ball to the flanks. Dublin was mainly static throughout the game, offering nothing in the air, poor hold up play, and giving away far too many fouls.
Leicester_Mad Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 Very very wierd decision. 23921 Very weird. And as for Tommy Wright, if he can't score from 6 yards with his head he can go back to the reserves. 23923 what are you on about it wasnt an easy chance, he got his head to it it unluckily hit the post and bounced out. If we put every striker in the reserves that missed from 6 yards i think Mr. Cork would be our only striker by now...
andy_croydz Posted 3 October 2004 Posted 3 October 2004 also he thought everyone was booing him, but we were actually all booing at the decision. I hope he realises this 23948 yeh defanitly i said that to my mate, i said i was pissed off how we didnt even clap him off we just booed and didnt clap and i was saying i hope he dont think its aimed at him coz hes temperamental as it is! dont want him falling out with mick coz micky will just drop him like he has with keown, wish micky would go hes wrecking the club now he had his good times but now hes doing stupid stuff like he wants to make us lose
bluefox Posted 4 October 2004 Posted 4 October 2004 Maybe it was agreed in advance that Connolly would come off early due to the fact that he had to get away for his wedding.... However on second thoughts it was just another crap substitution by MA. The man is clueless and should do us all a favour. It's P45 time for MA and DB.
bluefox Posted 4 October 2004 Posted 4 October 2004 On the commentary,Bassett said that the problem was nobody was playing the ball to Connelly's feet and its no good hitting high balls up to him.Maybe he should be telling MA this and not the listeners, still rich coming from Bassett though like he never used the 'long ball'. 23929 So what does DB do for the rest of then week then. If he can see the problem from the stands why doesn't he tell MA this. Or does being director of football mean that you are not allowed to be critical of MA. Its P45 time for DB ae well :!:
