Scow Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 What do you reckon the team will be? Robisnon Neville / Campbell / Ferdinand / A Cole Beckham / Lampard / Butt / J Cole Owen / Rooney I can't think of anyone else apart from Joe Cole who would play on the left wing. Wouldn't be my preferred choice if all players were available. I would love to see Defoe given another start, but it will most likely be Owen. <_< You could argue about Owen's international record, but it should be based on performance, not reputation.

I like Joe Cole, I think he just needs to step up another gear and he'll be a world beater. The international stage doesn't phase him and that shows the signs of a good player. As for it being on form and not reputation, I agree to an extent but it is different at international level. Some players with no international expierence struggle to make the step up and that's why you can never write players off like Owen and Beckham, especially in a game like saturday's.
Ash Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 Id agree witht that team Scowy , apart from one J.Cole > S.W-Phillips I think Sven will give him a chance
Muz Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 Im going so we best put on a good perfromance! And im also wearing my Leicester away shirt with Tiatto on!

Buzzell Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 Robinson G Neville Ferdinand Campbell Cole Beckham Lampard Butt Bridge Defoe Rooney
Buzzell Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 Dunno but I would prefer to see him rather then Joe Cole.
filbertway Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 ----------------------robinson ---neville----campbell----ferdinand-----cole --------beckham----lampard----j.cole ----------rooney----owen-----defoe That would be intresting.
Ash Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 J.Cole is a good player for sure , but we need players who like running with the ball on the wings , like Bridge,Wright-Phillips or Dyer ......I dont think J.Cole would play good out wide ! Thats why Beckham has moved into centre of midfield, he doesnt run with the ball
Buzzell Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 Wouldnt mind seeing Wroght-Phillips out there getting a game either! Its about time England had a quick, tricky mid-fielder!

Ash Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 Scowy was number one contender 24888 His aerial ability would be vital for England
Sparky Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 according to reports today it could be robinson neville terry ferdinand cole beckham lampard butt owen rooney defoe go on sven , lets go for it . wales are rubbish
spirefox Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 After seeing the Welsh central defence against NI we could get a hatfull.
kirkup21 Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 I'd rather see Terry in defence with Campbell because I don't see why Ferdinand should go straight back in to the starting 11. I know he's a great player and all that but Terry's been playing very well recently and has also scored a couple of goals.
Wellman Posted 7 October 2004 Posted 7 October 2004 according to reports today it could berobinson neville terry ferdinand cole beckham lampard butt owen rooney defoe go on sven , lets go for it . wales are rubbish 24913 defo go for that 1. Like that one a lot, sit defoe behind owen and rooney

Don't under estimate Wales, they're a decent, compact side. Oh, and England never seem to play well at Old Trafford.... <_<
Buzzell Posted 8 October 2004 Posted 8 October 2004 I'd rather see Terry in defence with Campbell because I don't see why Ferdinand should go straight back in to the starting 11. I know he's a great player and all that but Terry's been playing very well recently and has also scored a couple of goals. 24929 His last two performances for Man U have been amazing. He deffinetly deserves a return into the team. I would rather see him in the team then King, even though King is good.
Scow Posted 8 October 2004 Author Posted 8 October 2004 The encouraging thing is that we have both King and Terry for back up - Not many international teams can boast that strength in depth for central defence.
TrickyTrev Posted 8 October 2004 Posted 8 October 2004 We should play.... .........................Robinson ........Campbell........Rio......Terry Wright-Phillips...........................Cole ...........Beckham...J Cole....Lampard .................Rooney..Smith We will play the 4-3-3 formation that someone else posted with defoe, woen and Rooney upfront. In my opinion it is stupid to say that Defoe is the man in from, he has nto cored since August and Tottenham have hardly scored a goal all season. Owen isn't playin ghardly at all and when he does he looks offf the pace so I would play Smith as he is playing well for Man U, scoring goals and is good with his back to goal.
Anish Posted 8 October 2004 Posted 8 October 2004 There's no way Sven would play 3-5-2, and there's no way he would drop Owen. What is it with these managers and their persistence with experience, overlooking form??
Brighton Fox Posted 8 October 2004 Posted 8 October 2004 I would love to see us play a 3-5-2 formation. One of the main reasons being i wouldnt know who to leave out from Rio, Terry or Sol. Best bet is to play all 3 of em. Would be solid at the back. Then the team more or less picks itself with Neville and Cole as wing backs. Beckam and lampard in the middle with butt cos hes been playin well for his club. and Rooney and Owen up front. Love to see it happen but i doubt Sven will play 3-5-2. Remenisent of the O'neil days. and finally... COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!
