Guest Gist Posted 6 February 2006 Posted 6 February 2006 I was just thinking if teams stay in thier current positions and we manage to stay up , next season will be a tough one if we are to try and get promoted Sunderland Portsmouth Birmingham Norwich Palace Wolves Southampton And then there are the 3 teams that will get knocked out the play offs who will compete again next year Sorry to seem so negative .. just a thought
Ric Flair Posted 6 February 2006 Posted 6 February 2006 Doesn't matter, look at the teams in and around the play-offs this season. Watford and Luton were relegation candidates but look at them. There will always be 2 or 3 surprises and we might well be one of them. I know the league might get stronger, but Palace, Norwich and definately Southampton have found it tough this season and both Palace and Norwich haven't got rid of players. If Portsmouth come down I can see them being in serious mess, yes they have money but they've thrown most of it at trying to stay up and if they don't then they will have a huge amount of high earners on their books and will have to try and flog most of them. Sunderland might be ok, but the effects of a whole season being drubbed means they'll have lost the winning mentality needed. Birmingham will be a strong team, they'll have to sell but they do have quite a few good players that would stay and help them get back up. Wolves are back to their usual selves, won't get promoted for another 20 years.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 February 2006 Posted 6 February 2006 We should just be looking at improving next season, just to compete with those sides would be good enough next season for me, it would give our very young squad confidence and somthing to push on from the following season. After showing they can hold their own against the bigger teams in this division they can push for promotion.
Random Burglar Posted 6 February 2006 Posted 6 February 2006 How many of those clubs are going to be able to keep their best players anyway?
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 February 2006 Posted 6 February 2006 How many of those clubs are going to be able to keep their best players anyway? I haven't got a clue what Portsmouth are going to do their going to have to have a car boot sale or somthing. They have loads of players earning top $. Brum will probabley gamble on going straight back up and keep around 50% of their first team at least. I can see the Black Cats suffering the Swindon Effect.
Benji Posted 6 February 2006 Posted 6 February 2006 i dont think sunderland are a threat losing is as much as a mentality consistancy as winning, they lost to brentford in the cup.
