Fox 4 Life Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 I think this is very good news IF it happens - he was outstanding on Saturday and is the leader we need! From Skysports "Martin Keown wants to be taken off the transfer list at Leicester City. The former Arsenal centre back had a disagreement with Micky Adams over his role at The Walkers Stadium, thus finding himself on the free-transfer list. But following Adams' departure, temporary replacements Dave Basset and Howard Wilkinson recalled Keown. "I am just pleased to be playing because I've had a difficult couple of weeks," the 38-year-old ex-England star said. "I came to the club in a playing and coaching capacity but the coaching side didn't happen. I remained professional and kept my dignity. "We have two very professional people in charge. I just want to do my best and hope I will be coming off the transfer list."
Scow Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 Excellent news. We certainly looked a lot more solid with Keown in the back 4 - Even made Heath look competent! "I came to the club in a playing and coaching capacity but the coaching side didn't happen. I remained professional and kept my dignity.'' Hmmmm, maybe that was the start of the dispute, maybe Micky mislead him...
Anish Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 Yep we need King Keown to bolster up our defence. Hopefully he'll teach Heath and Stearman a few tricks from his Arsenal experience.
Wellman Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 good news this. We need abit of arsenal in our side, well doesn't everyone??
Hullfox Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 Not happy that he disrupted things but glad he's back in the team. Whether he was right or wrong in his opinions, it appears that he may have gone about things in the wrong way. Hopefully we'll get the proper Keown with the new management.
SilverFox Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 Whoever takes over should seriously consider Keown as an assistant. I really think he could sort the defence and bring through some of the younger players. Offering him a better position might also pursuade him to stay on longer. On another note...do we think Harry got rid of Harper in favour of possibly bringing in a left winger...it would make sense given that Wilcox is out for the rest of the season...There must be some method to the madness

Many people hated that MA talked about himself in the third person, but Bassett cannot shut up. Listen to his next post/Pre match interview...he doesn't take a breath!
Buzzell Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 Brilliant news. His experience his very valuable for our team. Great boost for our defence
Hoof Fox Posted 18 October 2004 Posted 18 October 2004 The guy is class, should be captain in my mind, he is a true leader.
