Jamesino_LCFC Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Hi everyone, We are all shocked by the news of James Wesolowski breaking his leg once again, and being out for the rest of the season, as the kid has been one of the key characters for our step up in form recently. However, I dont think all is lost, as I think a certain player will come back into the frame and prove to us that the sad loss will actually be ok. I think that Gareth Williams will replace James, and will be a great replacement in that. I think he is a Class player (with a capital C) and was one of the better player who was snubbed by Levein and is now awaiting his chance (upon being fit) to show Rob Kelly that he is the man. Now I am not sure on his fitness, but if he is fit for tommorow night, then I think we will still have a great team and go onto to win the match. Thanks again everyone and I would appreciate it if someone could confirm for me if Gareth Williams is fit or not as he will be the perfect replacement, I'm sure. James.
Birch'sLeftBoot Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Well it doesn't take a lot of deduction to think that Williams might be the sure-fire replacement for Weso, and I would love for him to take the role seriously and do what we know he can with it. I don't think anyone else even comes close to taking the job.

Libertine Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Here here, but is he fit? Anyone? He's been ill. Not sure if he'll be alright for tomorrow. Hope he is though.

I don't think he's a suitable replacement for Weso. Weso put in a 100% effort whilst encouraging the players around him. William's a mouse by comparison, a talented one but never the less of minimal impact. I don't think he was snubbed by Levein, certainly not anymore than he was by Adams. Williams has had ample opportunity to impose himself on the team, especially when Hughes was out for such a long time. Simple he did not deliver, when given the chance not from game to game and not even during a game, he's a 30 minute man. In our position we need 90 minute men. Having said that we have very few options, but I'd be surprised if Joey, Hughes and Maybury aren't 3/4 of the midfield tomorrow, so it's a case of Williams, Sylla, Hammond or Smith to take the last place. None of whom fill me with optimism.

Whenever I have seen Gareth Williams, I think he has been class and his ball distribution is just superb, the way he slices defences open with neat passes along the ground.
Louise Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Apparently all the ill lads will be ok for tomorrow (if none of them get worse overnight of course - and in the case of Gareth he also had an injured leg before as well didn't he..). Still, saying Williams will take over from Weso positionally is easy, however he's not the same type of player as Weso, hasn't got the same commitment and stamina, he's not as good at tackling and harassing other players. I wouldn't call him an exact replacement for Weso.

The People's Hero Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Williams has a bit of class about him. True, it rarely showed through in a cautious, defensive, scared Levein side, then again, which creative players did shine in that side? Give Williams a chance at least. You can't blame him for Levein's hard nosed, spoiling, cautious, defensive tactics. It's not his game. All the Levein sympathists can fock off as far as I'm concerned. The club has moved on. Why can't you?
lookwhaticando Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Ok I understand why Hammond,Syalla and Willams don't fill you with optimism. But Smith? I agree with him - Smith hardly inspires any confidence these days, he's been playing like a half dead donkey chained to a radiator lately, which is probably why Kelly dropped him in the first place.
Frenzied Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Williams is a good footballer that doesn't know how to play football and I doubt that'll change.
Scow Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 It's a massive blow because Weso has been without doubt one of the best players under Kelly since coming back from injury. It was amazing to see someone so young command the midfield and show leadership qualities in both the Wolves and Brighton games. It's most likely to be Hughes and Joey in the centre, with Maybury right side, and possibly Sylla/Smith on the left. I hope it's not Sylla because he was very lazy at times on Saturday and rarely threatened going forward. Smith hasn't been much better, but would prefer him over the former.
werestandingup_weresittingdown Posted 14 February 2006 Posted 14 February 2006 williams had his chances under levein and never took them. I really dont see what the fuss is about?? yes he can pass but so should he, hes a fookin centre mid. I think the far more important aspect of his game is his apparent laziness and inability to boss the middle area of a football pitch

Seagrave_Blueboy Posted 14 February 2006 Posted 14 February 2006 I dont think that williams is as determined in the tackle as weso, and as i think it will be a physical encouter tonight, im not sure if it is what i would call a `williams type of game`.
