The rise and fall

Recommended Posts

February 2000: We win the League cup against tranmere, the last one to be played at the old wembley. There's massive clebrations, again, and MON is again praised for his efforts.

March 2000: City win 5-2 against Sunderland, with Collymore scoring a hatrick and Heskey scoring too. Was this a start of a great new partnership? Maybe england future partnership up front? Well it could have been.......a few days later Heskey is sold to Liverpool for 12 million.

Collymore also breaks his leg in a 3-0 loss to derby.

Summer 2000: MON leaves for Celtic and Peter Taylor takes charge (MON had reccomended David Moyes). City have a lot of money to be spent and Taylor starts his quest to replace Heskey with the signings of Akinbiyi (5 million), Benjamin and Cresswell (both a million each).

Season 00/01:City start the season well and are top after 8 games, who need MON? shout the fans. However there is a disastrous defence of the League cup, we lost 3-0 to Palace at home

We stay 3rd in January and are joint 3rd after a resounding 2-0 win over Liverpool in March. City sign the likes of Sturride and Mancini (35k a week) as akinbiyi, Cresswell and Benjamin are misfiring.

We lose 14 consecutive away games, and then came disaster......

THE wycombe match For a place in the semi-cinal of the Fa-Cup, city lose 2-1 at Filbert Street. What followed?

End of 00/01 season We lost something like 8/9 games in a row, the only win a 4-2 one against injury struck spurs. Lee Marshall and junior Lewis are out of their depth! We end a dissapointng 13th.

Summer 2001 Taylor is rewared for the poor form with a new contract, and signs a 34 year old for 1.6 million on 35k a week (Dennis Wise) as well as Walker and Scowy.

We lost 5-0 at home to Bolton in my first match as a season ticket holder and 4-0 to Arsneal the next match. After 8 games we are bottom ( a year earlier we were top after the same amount of matches)

Taylor is sacked after a farcical game against Charlton where Junior Lewis, shit as he was, is sent off for heading the ball back to the keeper?

Who will replace Taylor?------- Harry Redknapp? George Graham?......Dave Basset

We start well and win against the Villa and Sunderland but a disgraceful run after xmas see's us just about relegated, with a new stadium being built for next season. Relegation wa sunthinkable but it was happening to us.

We are relegated at midday against United in April, City fans unify with a chant of "Stand up If you love leicester, " the hairs on my back stood up.

Harry resigns after the match and moves upstairs, leaving Micky Adams, his former assistant, in charge. Micky stars with a match against Celtic, where MON returned to the club.

We end the season unbeatein in four and Win the last game at filbo, against spurs, 2-1 thanks to a late goal by matty piper. A fitting end to a great season by the emerging Piper.

Summer 2002 We have to sell the likes of Rowett, Savage, Piper (Brought a tear to my eye) and Marshall (thank fook for that)

We can't pay wages so Summerbee and Billy Mac play for free. ( Good on you chaps)

We move in to our new stadium and win 2-0 against Watford. We would go on to win 8 of our first matches at home. Micky Adams team start well, apart form a 6-1 blip against ipswich.

Administration

Despite doing well in the League we go into administration, due to Dennis Wises Agent serving up a winding order.

End of the 02/03 season

We go out of administation but the jealous football leauge do not allow us to sign or loan players. Even Jeff whitley is not allowed to play for free.

We go up against all the odds," **** the football league **** the football league"

2003/2004 season

We sign the likes of Bent, Thatcher, Scimeca, Gillsepie, Howey, Ferdinand etc etc.

We do well, against all odds, but concede too many late goals.

Some interesting facts:- If games were 45 minutes we would be 4th in the league at the end of the season, if they were 80 mins we would have been 7/8th. We were the 3rd highest socrers away in the league.

Sex Scandal

some tarts falsely accuse our players in march, which IMO lead to our relegation.

As ever, against all odds, we bounce back with a win against Brum.

2004/2005

Micky signs loads of more players and releases loads more.

We don't get off to the best start and Micky resigns. In comes Craig Levein from Hearts. With high expectations, and we drop further down the league. But a good cup run follows we beat Chalrton are lose in the last minute against Blackburn. A dissapointing season.

2005/2006

Another huge influx of players. A poor start again and Levein is sacked, but there was still a good 4-2 win against Sheffield United and 3-2 aginast spurs.

Well thats what we call the "rise and fall" eh?
