Yeovil’s highly rated Lee Johnson is a target for Foxes Director of Football Dave Bassett.

Bassett, currently caretaker boss at the Walkers Stadium is a fan of the 22-year-old, son of Yeovil boss Gary Johnson.

Although Leicester are without a permanent manager at present, Bassett is keen to seal a ₤200,000 deal.

He came to their rescue though when he turned a Lee Johnson chance round the post as the ball span wickedly in the mud.

It didn't take long though for Lee JOHNSON to have another try, and when he did, it was far more successful. Starting and finishing a multi-team move down the right wing, he collected a return ball from Kim Grant and drove the ball home into corner of the net from 15 yards out. Considering the state of the pitch, it was a peach of a goal.

The visitors still could have had more. Johnson scuffed a shot wide after Grant had set him up again, although they still had to be on their guard to ensure a clean sheet at the interval.

Seems to have a good shot on him, and free-kicky i have heard goor reports, but why not give steven dawson a chance instead of paying 200k for another unproven young midfielder.

I remember watching him in the cup v Bolton i think ! He's a decent player but not sure at this level

Would be a decent aquisition as he's young and can still learn. I would say the lad has to learn abit more to go up a couple of divisions.

£200,000 would be a lot on somebody unproven. Plus if the board are going to sanction this purchase it suggests that Bassett is going to be here until the end of the season - otherwise they wouldn't let him bring in a new player who might not feature under a new manager.

This could be a stalking horse. ;)

I think it is all speculation, what can probably be determined from this is if Bassett is given the job then he may well sign Johnson, I cant see any incoming or outgoing permanent transfers being agreed until the managers position has been filled.

Not if it turns out to be a good buy it won't.

Look at the money we've spent wages wise on previously proven players that have not done it for us.

Bassett said on RL this morning's news that there was no money for transfers, not unless somebody left the Walkers first. He said even the Harper loan deal took them over budget.

He did say that if the new bloke came in, and stated a good case the board would "see what they could do".
