Finnegan Posted 6 April 2006 Share Posted 6 April 2006 My knowledge isn't lacking, you're just totally missing the point. Your own evidence agrees with me, here: Adolf Hitler advocated that the party should change its name to the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP). Hitler had always been hostile to socialist ideas, especially those that involved racial or sexual equality. However, socialism was a popular political philosophy in Germany after the First World War. This was reflected in the growth in the German Social Democrat Party (SDP), the largest political party in Germany. I'm not telling you Hitler was a socialist, I'm saying that the early Nazi Party went under a socialist tag and for that reason there are narrow-minded, conservative morons that argue the dangers of socialism giving the NSDAP as an example. My point, as I feel I've expressed rather clearly, is that this is no more correct than branding all nationalism dangerous because of such movements as the BNP. I'm not deffending Hitler, the BNP or criticising socialism - I'm merely justifying nationalism.
