dandannieldanok Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 I know that most of you will probably get the mercury, so what does the 'future of Alan Birchenall' mean at the bottom of the backpage. I hope it doesn't mean he won't be at the walkers on matchdays, during the dismal winter he sparked life into the crowds with his witty jokes and puns, even mocking the first half display against Burnley during the Levein dark days. Also it is funny that he can't say Tiatto's name properly.

It is in tomorrows mercury in an interview with that new chairman. Does he now? I doubt it, its probably some underhand move to shift him out and save the pennies. Disgraceful really after his loyal service as a player and charity work, city is close to his heart.
Ultra Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 He wouldn't be the first to be shafted by the club. It's happened to better people than him - ask Steve Walsh. As the circumstances that may have led to Birch getting the boot (ie if we'd been relegated and needed to cut costs very quickly) no longer apply, I'd be surprised if the chairman says anything other than his future is secure. Shame the guy wasn't on board when all this kicked off a few weeks back, then we could have avoided an awful lot of needless hassle.
saffronfox Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 the birch did not say anything tonight on the raido and he seemed quite up beat.

Walsh has often gone on record that things turned sour with us near the end and he was worried he would never be made to feel welcome back at the club, even by the fans. Have I missed something? What happened to him? I know Taylor bombed him out, which was abit naughty but was there another reason???

Weren't him and Cottee treated like shit and Bombed out because they had the audacity to apply for the job. Taylor showed his true poor management ability, he had two choices, blow them out or take them into his confidence and use their knowledge and ability to build the team up further. He failed big time on every level.

Were there any other issues that happened with Walsh around this time that haven't been publicised? To be fair his playing days were well and truely over by then, but he should have been kept on in some capacity as it was no coincidence that when players like him went the team spirit died aswell.

Dr The Singh Posted 26 April 2006 Posted 26 April 2006 Didn't walshy have a tendency to sh*g anything in sight?? Managers and players wives also included?? Can't remember any rumours of him shagging any managers!!!
davieG Posted 26 April 2006 Posted 26 April 2006 Didn't walshy have a tendency to sh*g anything in sight?? Managers and players wives also included?? Yes, but so what?
The Don Posted 26 April 2006 Posted 26 April 2006 Yes, but so what? All I'm saying is that as walsh was past his playing day prime, couldn't he be causing some upset behind the scenes that wasn't helping morale??

A half decent manager should be able to deal with that, Taylor obviously not only wasn't even a half decent one and was shit scared or jealous to boot.

At the end of the day, there's prob not many people who know the whole story, and it probably won't come out what went on.
