Guest Posted 2 May 2006 Posted 2 May 2006 The newsagents up the road from work has just started to stock it. It had to be done. Unfortunately I have no paper straws, and I'm not sitting in the pub, so not quite the nostalgia fest one could have hoped for, but it's good enough for me. Where's Jay when you need him?
The People's Hero Posted 2 May 2006 Posted 2 May 2006 Jay should be here. Also, didn't Ant love Vimto? Does he post here? Or was he a purist who didn't like the fizzy version?
Guest Posted 2 May 2006 Posted 2 May 2006 From memory, Ant had no preference. I think he has posted on here, but not for a long time. Are you thinking of a "Bring back Ant" campaign?

davieG Posted 2 May 2006 Posted 2 May 2006 There used to be factory on Queens Road, Hoyes & Co that made/stocked this. I used to pass it on the way to and from school. I remember a lad at school told me his Dad owned it and we went round there one lunch time, strolled in sat in the office drinking the stuff, having a laugh/messing about, going through the draws etc. It turned out it was all a load of bolloxs he's Dad never even worked there and that we were actually nicking the stuff - naive moi . mind you I was only about 9/10 at the time.
Guest Posted 2 May 2006 Posted 2 May 2006 9 or 10? You need to be careful, if you were 10 you'd be criminally liable!
Katy Posted 3 May 2006 Posted 3 May 2006 We used to have the tall glass bottle cordial version of Vimto, to make it fizzy you had to add lemonade (not the same) or used the Soda Stream (the flavour gets lost in translation) It was a great day when they 'invented' factory fizzed Vimto - all the flavour, none of the hassle.
Guest Posted 3 May 2006 Posted 3 May 2006 You used to be able to get it in the pubs, but not in the shops, only the flat version. I used to use lemonade to try and make the fizzy one, but as you say, it was never the same.

No no no no no no No You add vodka not gremlinade The demise of pub Vimto is totally down to the popularity of Red Bull
Katy Posted 5 May 2006 Posted 5 May 2006 Not tried that one. I guess myself and Deathside are responsible for the upturn in Red Bull sales. Sorry Vimto Did anyone else used to call it VIMPto or is it just me?
