Yet another thread goes downhill with personal abuse.

Petrescu, I like your commitment to Wright but I don't think he's worth a spot ahead of Scowcroft yet.

And BM, Keown has shown nothing like that sort of passion in a blue shirt yet. Elliott has and continues to do so. He was great yesterday.

When is he then? He hasnt done anything for us yet this season because he's had no chance. The current strikeforce have so far been disgraceful. Dublin and Connolly hasnt worked in one game yet, but we still persist in playing them two! We need quicker strikers, teams in the top half of the division have strikers with pace. Dion Dublin :angry:

Agree with you about Messrs Dublin and Blake, you are quite right. From what Tommy Wright has shown me (and I don't watch him in training or the reserves) I would rather have Scowy up front with Connolly. Pace is one thing but talent and strength are also pre-requisites and i think that Wright lacks at least one of the two.

Well I wouldnt play Scowcroft anywhere personally. It ruins our tactics because it encourages long balls to his head. We have got to somehow learn to unlock defences, that can be done by having the midfield i chose in this thread ;)

Agree to a point but I like the thought of somebody being able to head the ball being up front as well. Scowcroft gives us that option. His inclusion should not mean that we adopt the long ball tactic. I know that it has, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Step forward Mr Levein.

Whether or not Scowy is in the team we still will play long ball - when MA was in charge we kept playing hoof ball to Blake and Connolly up front, and they are the shortest strikeforce in the Championship. ;)

I don't think Wright is that strong personally, he's not great at holding the ball up, but he does have a bit of pace.

Scowcroft has been one of our best players this season, he deserves to have a chance upfront alongisde Connolly.

Including Scowcroft in the line up does tend to encourage the hoof in his direction, but as Hullfox mentioned, this could easily be changed under new management. Scowcroft was brought up through an Ipswich side encouraged to play ball to feet. You ask any Ipswich fan and they will tell you he was crucial to how he linked up the play between midfield and attack. He has alot more skill and technical ability than people give him credit for.

Yeah, he played and scored for England under 19's because he's shit.

Some people need to realise that this player played about 3 games for us last time in this division and scored 2 goals and won us a a penalty in another, its hard to abuse him and say he's no good when he's never had a real chance.

Exactly. Wright needs to be given at least 5 games in this league before you can say that he'll never make it with us. Just cos he didn't play well in the Preston cup game it doesn't mean he's a failure.
