There's too much emphasis put on formations, a good team adapts before and during a game when they feel the oppo is offering something unusual or special - MON used Kamaark as a man to man marker on Juniniho (sp) and probably did things on other occaisions that we didn't even notice.

I'm sure Levein will adapt when he feels it's necessary (as per Bordeau 361 or 451), but not every week.

What we have to do is give CL time, he has to go in assess the squad, its strengths / weaknesses and what tactics suit these players. What CL did at Hearts was use tactics / formations that suited the players at his disposal, which in my mind is the sign of a good manager.

What we have to realise as well is this is a different set of players as compared to Hearts and so different tactics will have to be implemented. You wouldnt see Arsene Wenger trying to play the same champagne football at say Darlington as he does at Arsenal because he wouldnt have the resources to do it.

What he'll do is go in and see which players suit his tactics and empty the rest. He did so at Hearts. He does not hang around, he'll have the remainder of the contracts paid off to all the players he does not want and bring in his own.

He will not pick tactics to suit the players. If the players cannot do what he asks then they will leave and others will be brought in. He may take a bit longer to do this with yourselves than he did at Hearts because he does not know the players down south but this is how he works.

Only the captain of Hearts, Steven Pressley, is left from the team that played for our previous manager. The rest were brought through from the reserves or brought in by Levein. His players, his team.

Absolutely marvelous, I love the sound of this guy. I am so looking forward to him getting rid of Adams comedy signings such as Blake, Dabizas and Dublin.

Martin O'Neill played 3-5-2 at City and then changed to 4-4-2 at Celtic. Managers do change, so don't read to much in to Levein's past. I'm sure we'll get some wingers, if not so what. Not many clubs play with out and out wingers anymore.

Martin O'Neill is still playing with a 3-5-2 at Celtic. :blink:

:huh::huh:

Oh I thought O'Neill was a 4-4-2 man these days? I have seen a few of Celtics games on tv and they lined up in a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 formation?!

Agathe and Thompson being the wing backs.
