dearyme Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 B) I see you all like to see or are used to watching a 3 5 2 formation. It's not how Levein will play things. It'll be 4 4 2 with a big man up front. I don't know much about your players but if they don't work hard they will not be playing. So, if you're having a wee think about who will be playing and not you're best taking this into consideration. All the best.
Scarby Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 Thats execellent news - players that dont play well wont be playing - just we need right now someone that can stamp his authioty!

Sparky Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 a big man upfront does not mean we are gonna play long ball, i like to see a big man in there for crosses in to danger areas . p.s. not dion dublin
Mark Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 TRICKY TREV 32017 Someone with height and ability please. He'll have to bring someone in cause the only striker with ability here is Connolly.
Mark Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 Move Scowy up front! 32033 I'd prefer someone who is mobile to partner Connolly, or it just wont work for him

This will be a first good test for CL.
Red Mist Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 Move Scowy up front! 32033 I'd prefer someone who is mobile to partner Connolly, or it just wont work for him 32039 Connolly scored a hatful at Wimbledon though playing alongside Neil "oil tanker" (that's rhyming slang as well as descriptive) Shipperly. It's surprising that it hasn't worked for him at Leicester as he's scored goals everywhere else. What do you put it down to - confidence? style of play?
Cat Burger Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 Scowy should play up front, he is a lot fitter and more hard-working than he used to be.

Dublin's as ineffective as a submarine on the M1 <_<

Lets get some confidence, passion & some younger boys into the team, mix it all together, bake it for a few weeks...

He may get Harper back. :w00t: :w00t: I have given him two years to sort this shower out. :w00t:
Hoof Fox Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 What we have to do is give CL time, he has to go in assess the squad, its strengths / weaknesses and what tactics suit these players. What CL did at Hearts was use tactics / formations that suited the players at his disposal, which in my mind is the sign of a good manager. What we have to realise as well is this is a different set of players as compared to Hearts and so different tactics will have to be implemented. You wouldnt see Arsene Wenger trying to play the same champagne football at say Darlington as he does at Arsenal because he wouldnt have the resources to do it. We have to be paitent and give CL time, we also have to realise that there may be some indifferent results in the early weeks whilst he assesses the squad and gets to know them. It will take possibly 2-3 months for the team to be playing exactly the way CL wants so I think it is important we dont judge him too quickly. What I would expect to see very quickly is increased fitness, work rate, passion and commitment. Lets get behind this manager and not start judging him too quickly, lets not make the same rash judgemets as we did with MON, remember it took him a few months to get the team playing the way he wanted and look how successful we were. Be paitent and give Levein our full support.

He did so at Hearts. He does not hang around, he'll have the remainder of the contracts paid off to all the players he does not want and bring in his own. He will not pick tactics to suit the players. If the players cannot do what he asks then they will leave and others will be brought in. He may take a bit longer to do this with yourselves than he did at Hearts because he does not know the players down south but this is how he works. Only the captain of Hearts, Steven Pressley, is left from the team that played for our previous manager. The rest were brought through from the reserves or brought in by Levein. His players, his team.

Martin O'Neill played 3-5-2 at City and then changed to 4-4-2 at Celtic. Managers do change, so don't read to much in to Levein's past. I'm sure we'll get some wingers, if not so what. Not many clubs play with out and out wingers anymore.

SamuearlJackson Posted 1 November 2004 Posted 1 November 2004 Yes, MON will play 4-4-2 on special occassions when he really thinks it will be better, but as Scowy says, he still is a follower of 3-5-2. SamJ
