bren Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Come on then, using 4-4-2 who are the worst players you have seen down filbo in your time. Gk - Martin Hodge DL - Tony Spearing CB - Micheal Trotter CB - Jacob Laursen / Brian Carey RB - Lee Marshall LW - Lee Philpott CM - Ricky Hill CM - Marc North (dead now RIP) RM - Franz Carr? CF - Ade Akinbiyi CF - Ian Ormandroyd (tried so hard, just hardly ever scored!!) What do you lot think?
bren Posted 22 July 2004 Author Posted 22 July 2004 Still think Ricky Hill and Marc North were worst, at least good old Junior had 1 decent game!
Joe_Fox Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 You've got to stick Spider Kalac in there. Ian Ormondroyd was dreadful to look at (IANGWOC) but actually 'did a job' for us. I'll always remember the last minute equaliser against Watford on boxing day to make it 4-4. Sticks, you are an ugly funker but I will always have fond memories of your antics. Love live Sticks p.s. What about Mark Blake?
bren Posted 22 July 2004 Author Posted 22 July 2004 Make Blake wasn't too bad, he certainly wasn't the worst. Couldn't think of many shite ex city strikers to be honest, maybe the big Fin, thats about it. Forgot about Kalac, how crap was he!!
rotherhamfox Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Ive got a few more names who could be considered- Kalac Colin Gibson Wise Jimmy Willis Phil Gee Basically loads from the Pleat/Little eras.
Scow Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Well, I'm only youngish......... Kalac L Marshall/Curtis/Laursen/Rogers Gillespie/Hignett/Wise/Lewis Akinbiyi/Benjamin

Ricey Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Kalac Rogers Laursen Willis Curtis Hignett Wise Lewis Marshall Akinbiyi Cresswell
Jonno Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Surely, even just last year, Hignett & Brooker were worse than Gillespie?
Guest Daniel Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Laursen? Why you saying him, i didnt think he was that bad at all, used to win any high ball that came near him, was it because he was a nob when he left towards the club? Kalac Akinbye Worst 2 players ive ever seen on a football pitch, cant be bothered to nam a whole team, .
Scow Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Surely, even just last year, Hignett & Brooker were worse than Gillespie? I don't think Brooker was that bad - He only played a few games - Whereas Gillespie was just poor in every game he played.
Hullfox Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 McClintock signed some right nobbers. Memory is fading though; Lammy somehing or other (No, not Larry May) Definitely Junior Lewis, Jari Rantinen, Norman Leet, and Youl Mawene
gagandeep Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 i'm young so mine is:- --------------------------------gk-kalac------------------------------------------------- ---marshall------------CURTIS--------------LAURSEN-----------------ROGERS------ -GILLESPIE(SO FAR BUT WILL BE A LEGEND)--LEWIS--BROOKER/WISE--HIGNETT --------------------------AKINBIYI-------------FENTON--------------------------- there is 4 micky adam buys in there! 2 basset 2 mon and only 4 taylor! the diference is that, taylors cost 8.5 million altogether, mickys nothing.
Sparky Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 martin hodge lee marshall brian carey ricky hill alan rogers lee philpott junior lewis colin gibson keith gillespie ( sorry mate, your crap) ashley ward graham fenton
Neil_LCFC Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 My worst is. manager David Pleat Kalac (the worse ever) Coatsworth Carey Madden Spearing Ormondroyd Wise Ricky Hill Junior Lewis Akinbiyi Wayne Clarke Sure I,ve erased some from my memory as they were so bad but Kakac & Akinbiyi should be in everyones worst ever I would think for there performances for us.
Neil_LCFC Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 surely taylor was worse than pleat Good shout hard to decide with Taylor or Pleat we had one 13th place in the premier then 6 games the season after & he was sacked with Taylor but under Pleat we had about 3 or 4 seasons of rubbish in Div1 (old div2) Taylor was totally clueless how to stop us losing once we got into a run Pleat was just clueless fullstop & we were in a worse division so he should have done far better.
glen31 Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 McClintock signed some right nobbers.Memory is fading though; Lammy somehing or other (No, not Larry May) Definitely Junior Lewis, Jari Rantinen, Norman Leet, and Youl Mawene lammy robertson i think u mean he was shiiiiiiite
Neil_LCFC Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Most of the team that beat Derby in the playoff final were shite coatsworth, willis, carey, gibson, blake, ormondroyd a joke of a team to win a game like that totally fairytale stuff.
Hullfox Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 lammy robertson i think u mean he was shiiiiiiite Glen mate I can now sleep tonight. My mind has been going crazy trying to think of him. Cheers mate - he was pants wasn't he
Walsh5 Posted 22 July 2004 Posted 22 July 2004 Marc North was mentioned in a few replies to this thread, I'd like to say a few words in his defence. When we signed him it was as a forward, and to start with he looked really promising. I think he scored twice in one of his first few games, against Crystal Palace, one of them an absolute blinder. He was seen at the time as a great prospect. After this good start he got a really bad injury and was out for quite some time. When he came back he had lost a yard of pace. The rest of the side wasn't perfoming particularly well either and North was tried elsewhere in the side as the management juggled the players to try and find something that worked. Maybe he could hav egot that pace back over time but I don't think he was in the right frame of mind what with being messed about. A friend of mine used to see him in the pub a lot, he smoked as well, he was cutting a pretty sorry figure and making a real comeback still less likely. OK towards the end some of his performances do warrant his inclusion in a discussion like this. But I prefer to remember the pre-injury Marc North. Any player is only one bad tackle away from getting screwed, and without the proper support from those around him - most particularly the club - anyone could lose their way pretty quickly.
