BBC Sport Posted 13 July 2006 Posted 13 July 2006 Fifa launches disciplinary proceedings against Italy's Marco Materazzi over his World Cup final conduct.http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/sport1/hi/f...aly/5177140.stm
Ultra Posted 13 July 2006 Posted 13 July 2006 Quite right too. Still won't excuse what Zidane did though...
Nationwider Posted 14 July 2006 Posted 14 July 2006 I wonder if there'd have been disciplinary proceedings if Zidane hadn't butted MM, but merely made a complaint afterwards?
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 14 July 2006 Posted 14 July 2006 I wonder if there'd have been disciplinary proceedings if Zidane hadn't butted MM, but merely made a complaint afterwards? I doubt it, the headbutt threw the issue on the world stage so people will be calling for justice on both sides
Thracian Posted 14 July 2006 Posted 14 July 2006 Seeing it was obvious something serious had provoked Zidane it might have helped if the referee had asked him for an explanation before deciding what action to take. On reflection I wonder how each of us would have reacted to the same words. If Materazzi's taunt is proven I think FIFA should set an example by banning him from any future International and from all football for a year. It is quite likely that insults like that have started wars in ancient history and FIFA should have the bottle to do something about it.

Manwell Pablo Posted 15 July 2006 Posted 15 July 2006 Funny People seem very quick to forget... or perhaps not even notice Maroc MattaCoonctFaces spell in the premier league, I for one don't he is filthy basterd who deserves every head butt that comes his way. Zidane has always been filty as well but at least he has talent, also he has never produced anything resembling this, which again most people, including his agent have been quick to forget scenes like this, a regular through out most seria A seasons. The world best what? Full back? have this! I dont condone Zidanes behaviour but as I have said on another thread, he (Materazzi) has had it coming for a very long time.

Manwell Pablo Posted 15 July 2006 Posted 15 July 2006 surely refs have to decide on the behaviour during the match only ;not allow some perverse justice being dished out inherited from previous misdemeanours ZZ acted like a scrap yard dog Yes and its a red card, and not for the first time a remember Zidane stamping and butting players before. He is a right regular Cantona! Fully deserved, I think we should of moved on by now any way This is not my point, my point was a bit off topic and probabley should of been explained better. I can't stand people feeling sorry for Materazzi. He's not even a very good defender, just a big tall lumbering dirty ****. This nice boy image he's attempting to create for himself makes me sick, when his agent told the press nice boy Marco would never do anything like that as he is a "good boy" I nearly died of laughter. Appearing on Italain TV with his nice daughter claiming he doesn't know what a Islamic Terriost is as he is too nice, then publicley announcing Zidane should keep his award because nice boy Marco likes him and nice boy Marco still has his shirt on his nice wall, please <_< you are taking the piss nice boy Marco. He specialses in headed goals, head butts, stamps, flying elbows and lunging two footed carear enders! Its a shame he didnt break his rib cage in half! He should admit he deserved it for winding ZZ up and making a carear out of being a flithy basterd! If you know anything about Serie A or paid any vague attention to his spell at Everton you will know I speak the truth.
