Daggers Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 Is anyone else just a teensy bit bored with hearing about how cycling is racked with drugs? And cyclists protesting their innocence?
nhfox Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 Its an embarrassment, really. How stupid could Landis be? Had to know that earning the yellow meant a drug test at the end of the stage.

Wit drugs being so rife in that sport, simply taking part results in a drug test after each and every stage :pinch:
New England Fox Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 Jumping the gun a bit here arent we? seeing as they havent even tested the B sample, and the fact that a number of natural reasons could have caused the elevated levels of testosterone. Personally, I dont think landis is guilty but i guess we will see.
macbeth Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 Is anyone else just a teensy bit bored with hearing about how cycling is racked with drugs? And cyclists protesting their innocence? you're a keen cyclist aren't you are you testosterone supercharged

Ultra Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 It would help to explain his "miraculous" recovery last week. One night he was a complete physical wreck, the next day he slaughtered the whole field. Looks fairly open and shut to me.
Daggers Posted 28 July 2006 Author Posted 28 July 2006 you're a keen cyclist aren't you are you testosterone supercharged Oh yea! It's what would have attracted a certain actress to me had we met I was just listening to a report ~ and 48% of Tour cyclists are registered asthmatics. What an incidence rate huh!?

The People's Hero Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 Someone should saddle them with huge fines, brake their legs and they should all be (handle)barred from the spot. I thank you!
New England Fox Posted 28 July 2006 Posted 28 July 2006 It would help to explain his "miraculous" recovery last week. One night he was a complete physical wreck, the next day he slaughtered the whole field. Looks fairly open and shut to me. Well youd be wrong then. What everyone doesnt realise is that the test didnt show abnormally high levels of testosterone, it infact shows low levels of epotestosterone. The test deals in ratios of 1:1 between the two hormones. A normal level is 1:1 and anything above 4:1 is considered doping. Now although Landis result was higher than 4:1, his level of testosterone was infact normal. It was simply that his level of epotestosterone was abnoramlly low. There is no doping drug or procedure currently known that can actually lower this hormone in this way. Therefore even with a positive test, there is no evidence of Landis having any elevated levels of anything performance enhancing in his system. But as usual everyone immediately assumes that one test means a guy has been cheating. I am a huge cycling fan and yes there is doping in the sport, and it is quite prevelant, but I really dont believe Landis is guilty here and it really annoys me when people simply jump on the bandwagon without knowing the real facts apart from "tested positive"
