Nebdingo Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 ..Where do you see Leicester City in the next 5 years? Personally, I can only see us being a mid table championship side with maybe the odd playoff place at absolute best.. The Championship is getting more difficult as currently 19 teams are ex-premiership (think its 19 anyway) and looking at the current transfers, ins and out of other clubs and Leicester its quite scary!! cor... bring back the good old days!!
filbertway Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 In the next 5 years, probably as a team that are in the position that sheff utd were in last year.

I can see us in this division for a long time now, although i would love to be proved wrong, but not by being relegated to league 1 obviously
Tommeh Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 I agree that we may be in this divsion for the next 2 years certainly but you never know what will happen, try comparing the division now with the on in 2002/03 when we were promoted. This division is full of big clubs who all feel they should be in the premiership, however this privelage can only happen for 20 clubs, I know the premiership is the place to be but this league is certainly much more entertianing and is growing in stature all the time.

I reckon this division is in many ways better than the Premiership. Almost anyone can win it, most games are at the proper time and there's more 4-4-2 than 4-5-1.
Tommeh Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 good point sheephead! Its alright as my co- star in soccer am stan hibbert would say "i'm here all week"
Thracian Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 It depends on the football policy. But that will change either through Kelly or through whoever replaces him sooner or later and I am certain we'll go for more enterprise in the future. When that happens it will depend on how clever we are in the transfer market and how good we are at bringing our kids through the final stages of their football development, where we seem to malfunction right now. Given the changes, top half of the Championship. Without the changes, barely halfway up Division One because our finances will diminish while our costs would doubtless remain relatively high. The Academy might also be under threat if that happens. The situation with Belvoir Drive might be quite relevent to what happens but I'm no crystal ball gazer on that score.

Championship stadiums are now on par with many prem grounds and at times the atmosphere in the championship is far better than the prem. P.s Most teams in lge 2 and 1 say that this league is their long term priority and the league they'd all love to be in.

Ultra Posted 8 August 2006 Posted 8 August 2006 It's very difficult to predict the future of ANY team in this league (apart from Colchester who are nailed-on certs for the drop) Look what happened to Watford Last season. The worst that could happen to us is further mid-table stagnation. But there is enough talent in the current squad for that not to occur.

Which current squad do you mean - the 27 remaining named players or the limited little clique he's likely to use? Cos with the little clique I think there's far worse could happen than mid-table stagnation. They didn't even manage that last year...
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 August 2006 Posted 8 August 2006 Fans of clubs like ourselves will have to get used to the fact that some Premiership places that were previously up for grabs are now filled by traditionally smaller clubs with big-money chairmen (Reading, Wigan, Fulham) - the new big clubs financially speaking.
