chili_con_carne Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 I didn't go to the Burnley game but evidence from the Luton game is that he is lazy and puts no effort in at all. Whenever he lost the ball he just looked at the ball and backed off looking around to see if anyone else was getting it. All he could care about is getting his £Â£Ã‚£ week after week for doing what? NOTHING When you see Wesolowski and Hume they are all over the park, trying to win the ball back and doing everything for the team and the both of them are probs earning less than Andy Johnson. Its not right. Maybe we should do a Leeds and try and sell him after less than a month at the club? His wages are being wasted
only-dreemin Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 Sell him???.... Who on earth to?.... Masquerading as a midfielder.......... he's a moose
Vo Rogue Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 Kelly brought him in as cover for Weso. For a good midfielder in this division I think it would costa bit. That we don't have.
Thracian Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 What I've seen of Andy Johnson so far my opinion of him is rubbish! I think he lacks awareness, creativity, skill, pace and passing abilities. As soon as Weso is fit this long haired headless chicken should be instantly removed from the first team and sent out on loan to Boston Utd. I'm inclined to agree. He came with glowing reports fom an ardent West Brom for his constant midfield prompting but to me he's sluggish and leaves too much space behind him for a supposedly disciplined midfield ball-sprayer. He's also off the pace.
Knighton Matt Posted 9 August 2006 Author Posted 9 August 2006 Did we not bypass Williams and Johnson anyway? Yeah but my point was by not making himself available to receive the ball from the defenders he effectively gave them no option but to bypass the midfield. That was the disappointing aspect for me.

Vo Rogue Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 Nah those 'defensive' boys had hoofing on their minds - you could tell. Probably too much golf in the break. Now they think they can loft it 50 yards and hit a target everytime.
eaststandtom Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 Now admittedly I haven't seen much of the guy so this might be a tad harsh/premature... BUT... For me he was a massive let down tonight. In the second half after Williams had gone off Johnson was our anchor man in midfield...the necessary link between defence and attack. After we started hoofing it aimlessly time and time again I watched the midfield closely to see why it was they were getting bypassed. What I witnessed was baffling...All Johnson does is point where the ball should be played. Why does he not want it himself He didn't once make a run or gesture to the defenders that he wanted the ball. He just stood absolutely still pointing in all manner of different directions! If there's one thing I hate it's players with no balls who hide when the chips are down. Sadly Andy Johnson for all his passion to me is a fake. Never wanted the ball hence the constant hoofing. Opinions? He is the Ashley Ward of midfielders
