golden gordon Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Inzamam faces two cricket charges Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is charged with bringing the game into disrepute after forfeiting the Oval Test. quite right
Ultra Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 where did you get the idea that cricketers do not cheat? have you never heard of bodyline Bodyline was a perfectly legitimate tactic, as the laws then stood. The Aussies then had the laws changed, so they could win the Ashes back!
Ultra Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Inzamam faces two cricket charges Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is charged with bringing the game into disrepute after forfeiting the Oval Test. And what about Darell Hair? Surely he has as much a case to answer as Inzamam?
golden gordon Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 And what about Darell Hair? Surely he has as much a case to answer as Inzamam? why? is applying the rules to the letter an offence for umpires now ? or is it that he dare question the integrirty of the pakistani cricket team that is now an offence?
golden gordon Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Bodyline was a perfectly legitimate tactic, as the laws then stood. The Aussies then had the laws changed, so they could win the Ashes back! yes , not such a good example as you are correct it was legal then, but my point being that cricketers do on occasions cheat
Ultra Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 yes , not such a good example as you are correct it was legal then, but my point being that cricketers do on occasions cheat But sometimes umpires/referees can be bent as well.
golden gordon Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 But sometimes umpires/referees can be bent as well. i've not said they can't what i say is no ref/umpires decision can be used as an excuse to flounce off the field
Ultra Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 i've not said they can't what i say is no ref/umpires decision can be used as an excuse to flounce off the field It has been, on a number of occasions in the past. None of the umpires involved were as draconian as Darrell Hair, though..
FNQ Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 why? is applying the rules to the letter an offence for umpires now ? or is it that he dare question the integrirty of the pakistani cricket team that is now an offence? Yes it is an offence. It's a huge offence.
marko Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 yes , not such a good example as you are correct it was legal then, but my point being that cricketers do on occasions cheat The Pakistani's do have 'form' when it comes to flexing the rules. Shoaib Akthar was penalised for ball tampering a few years back and it was only last winter when Mr Afridi decided to have a waltz on the wicket in an attempt to alter playing characeristics. But without any hard evidence to back up his claim Darrell is skating on thin ice. I think Inzi should have played until a result was reached then kicked up a stink.

I think Inzi should have played until a result was reached then kicked up a stink. not to mention match fixing allegations some time ago although I must say I believe that Inzamam is a man of integrity and he impresses me with his approach and attitude... The laws state that the umpires are paramount on the field of play and how could it work in any other way? Evidence , character references and a straw poll among his fellow citizens as to a player's absolute integrity are fine for the papers or the post match debate but not much use in getting the game moving as a spectacle
Shum Posted 22 August 2006 Posted 22 August 2006 Last year in the Ashes, the ball was reverse swinging every game? (Simon Jones etc) This whole affair has really messed up cricket, which is pretty dissapointing to be fair. Hair has a massive grudge towards all the Asian teams for whatever reason. I just hope it doesn't spoil the sporting relationships between the England and Pakistani cricket team.
john_lcfc Posted 22 August 2006 Author Posted 22 August 2006 how do people know hair has a grudge against asian teams.. can someone post all the incidents with asian teams he has dealt with ?
golden gordon Posted 22 August 2006 Posted 22 August 2006 how do people know hair has a grudge against asian teams.. can someone post all the incidents with asian teams he has dealt with ? the pakistan team believe it to be true, so it must be true, as they are not to be questioned in whatever they say. otherwise their honour has been questioned and that isn't allowed
