Make your own mind up. For example I just looked up the tutoral cost for a poker beginner.

£249 for 5 hours. £50/hour thereafter

I expect other things will be priced accordingly.

On the other hand if you play for 5 hours and lose £249 you may decide you are playing the game just a little wrong and either give up or buy a poker book.
