lcfc_jme Posted 25 August 2006 Posted 25 August 2006 That's the common cause for a punctured lung, but probably not the sole cause. To puncture a lung in a tackle is very serious business tho - the impact forces had to br very high indeed. a la Thatcher on Mendes.. In both cases it's malicious intent and he got away with it lightly didn't he??
lookwhaticando Posted 25 August 2006 Posted 25 August 2006 a la Thatcher on Mendes.. In both cases it's malicious intent and he got away with it lightly didn't he?? Not this time, with any luck (and help from the GMP).
lcfc_jme Posted 25 August 2006 Posted 25 August 2006 Not this time, with any luck (and help from the GMP). Well the F.A are doing him for serious foul play/violent conduct or something similar.. Didn't think GMP could press charges against him though, thought they could only investigate it and find out exactly what happened (as if it were not obvious already)
Cat Burger Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 I could watch Thatcher's tackle all day. EHEHEHEHE
lookwhaticando Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 His clubs investigation came to a conclusion or two. For a club punishment, it's quite heavy. With some luck, the FA will do the same or more - meaning he could be on the sidelines for a while, and kissing goodbye to a large chunk of this year's salary. Six game ban (two suspended) and a fine of six weeks wages from Man City themselves. He's already sat out one of the four (v. Arsenal) so he will now miss Reading, Blackburn & Chesterfield - he's out until about September 24th at least, so far. The Beeb In related news, Mendes has stated his intention to not take legal action against Thatcher. Meaning the Greater Manchester Police won't be launching a full investigation (as they've not recieved a complaint from the three parties - Mendes, Pompey or the FA). Unfortunate really.

lcfc_jme Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Didn't an F.A statement read that they were looking at banning him for around 8 games, just as I predicted somewhere in this thread??
lookwhaticando Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 Didn't an F.A statement read that they were looking at banning him for around 8 games, just as I predicted somewhere in this thread?? Not heard that one before. Would be interesting if he did get an 8 game ban on top of his current 3 games by Man City - he'd be out of action until December sometime. Assuming the club doesn't ban him 'during' the FA's ban.
