Hope he has a great day (as I do members of the Church, for whom this must be a Holy Day). It's great to see him back and playing again, not from a Leicester perspective but great for the guy himself, hopefully he'll play some part on Saturday (so won't celebrate too much today!).

Happy Birthday James

AN unknown teenager who has suffered two broken legs in the past 13 months celebrates his 18th birthday today with a shock call-up for the Socceroos.

Sydneysider James Wesolowski has been hailed a maestro in the making by fans of English second-tier outfit Leicester.

Coach Rob Kelly shares that view and now Graham Arnold has decided to help one of soccer's unluckiest youngsters turn his fortunes around by naming him in his 18-man squad for the Asian Cup return date with Kuwait in Kuwait City on September 6.

Wesolowski, who suffered his second leg break last February, has already featured in three games for the English Championship club this season and is being lauded as one of the most gifted players to emerge on the Socceroos radar since Harry Kewell.

Arnold, whose squad will be officially unveiled early next week, has ignored the claims of his A-League A-listers and given leave passes to his overseas elite by including just five World Cup faces in a squad built around hungry European-based fringe players with points to prove.

Wesolowski is joined by Leicester teammate Patrick Kisnorbo with the club's second-string keeper Paul Henderson on standby.

Wesolowski Makes The Grade

James Wesolowski celebrated his 19th birthday today (Friday) with the news that he has been called up to the Australian squad for their upcoming Asian Cup game against Kuwait on September 6.

The young midfielder has now fully recovered from a broken leg and made his first start of the campaign for the Foxes in their 2-0 victory over Macclesfield in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night.

Fellow countryman Patrick Kisnorbo has also been called up to the squad for the game, while goalkeeper Paul Henderson has been placed on standby.

The call-up caps a remarkable rise up the ranks for Wesolowski, who only broke into the City first team scene at the beginning of the 2005-06 pre-season campaign.

An impressive performance against non-league Kettering Town was followed up by an appearance against Celtic in a friendly at the Walkers Stadium, but that start was cut short when the youngster was forced from the field with a broken leg.

The young Australian then made his comeback in January against Cardiff, but he would again tragically break his leg in a different place just three weeks later.

But following a slight thigh injury at the beginning of the 2006-07 season, the player is now fighting fit and will be hoping to play some part in Leicester's Championship clash against Southend United on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Gareth McAuley has been promoted from standby to be called up for the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming games against Iceland and Spain.
