lookwhaticando Posted 28 August 2006 Posted 28 August 2006 Don't expect to see the clock tower though it was filmed in Dublin Still a cracking show. Set in Leicester, filmed in Dublin? Didn't think they were that similar. :pinch:
dave_1988 Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 I've been watching it, and its really great, but yeah a bit dissappointing that it wasn't filmed in Leicester. There has been a few glimpses of a map of Leicester though
stez Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 i don't watch it, but if it alledgedy 'set' in leicester i might give it a whirl. is mustace is awesome though!! it could so easily looked a bit 'village people'

There has been a few glimpses of a map of Leicester though Yeh that's what first made me realise that it was set in Leicester. It's not the first time this has happened though! If I remember Adrian Mole was filmed in Surrey
crazy horse Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 Yeh that's what first made me realise that it was set in Leicester. It's not the first time this has happened though! If I remember Adrian Mole was filmed in Surrey i remember a lot of the original series was filmed in leicester, around braunstone and city centre

If I remember Adrian Mole was filmed in Surrey You didn't notice the big sign across the screen saying Leicester when they first went there?
golden gordon Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 You didn't notice the big sign across the screen saying Leicester when they first went there? it could have been a prop
Head Honcho Posted 29 August 2006 Author Posted 29 August 2006 You didn't notice the big sign across the screen saying Leicester when they first went there? Yeh I did, but I saw the LE1 maps on the wall first
dave_1988 Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 Did anyone hear that policewoman's silly pronunciation of stoughton? at least i think it was stoughton!
golden gordon Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Did anyone hear that policewoman's silly pronunciation of stoughton? at least i think it was stoughton! we always used to call houghton and stoughton " huffton and stuffton" don't know whether thats what she said
stez Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 we always used to call houghton and stoughton " huffton and stuffton" don't know whether thats what she said they should've known leicestershire yokles have their own special way of saying place names (grew-beh/grow-beh etc). i was roundly mocked for calling coston; coss-ton i should've known is was said; coh-sun the producers would have been wiser sticking with east goscote!
Head Honcho Posted 30 August 2006 Author Posted 30 August 2006 Did anyone hear that policewoman's silly pronunciation of stoughton? at least i think it was stoughton! Yeh noticed that, but to be honest it's been that long since I've lived in Leicester I started questioning whether she said it right or not! You'd think they'd have found an easier place to pronounce like Saxelbye, Wartnaby or Carlton Curlieu

Suffolk_fox Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 I think they also cut in some shots of Belfast City Airport quite nicely. Of course, it is now George Best Airport, but only for the last couple of months. Must have just taken a few pics of the new signs and put them in...
