bigneville Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 Just watching SkySports News and there reporting that Stilian Petrov will move to Aston Villa for £6.5 million. Is it just me or is Martin O'Neill paying well over the odds for a Celtic midfielder??? He obviously rates him. But is a player from Scotland like Petrov worth 6.5 million?

Rudi Skacel was like a goal machine for Hearts from midfield, did he score more then Petrov? He only went for £1.8m!
Wils Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 I think Petrov's a decent player but not werth 6.5 Million. Im sure MON knows what hes doing though
Tommeh Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 As Wils said i'm sure MON knows what he's doing. I wouldn't question his decisions
Alexikokopops Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 Rudi Skacel was like a goal machine for Hearts from midfield, did he score more then Petrov? He only went for £1.8m! I always had Petrov own as a more defensive player than Skacel. Am I just making that up? Petrov's performed in Europe whereas Skacel's never had the chance (although I may be wrong there) so that's always gonna boost his price up a bit.
lildave3 Posted 29 August 2006 Posted 29 August 2006 They got the money haven't they, and celtic know that so theyre upping the asking price. Exactly what happened with SWP and Chelsea
lcfc_jme Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Deals gone through. 8 million. If you're referring to Petrov for £8million, and people are saying he isn't even worth the original £6.5million, then Villa must surely have been conned
OBO Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 That's ridiculous money! Suppose they've got enough $$$ to throw around now though!
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Well 8 mil is a bit of lie. 6.5 rising to 8 based on apperances.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 If they've got it to splash around and they're desperate to get him before the deadline, what does a million or two matter to a wealthy American? I overheard some bloke in the pub saying Shevchenko wasn't worth £30million cos of his age - you're missing the point, people!
