connecting a laptop up to a normal pc monitor

as you may know, i broke my laptop screen last night :mad:

what im trying to do is hook it up to a normal pc monitor,

what ive done is connected the lead from the monitor to the laptop and turned it on and it works allright till u actually get into windows

I can see all the laoding up screens before you get into windows put then the screen justs turns off when i get into windows???

ive tried to do different resolution by usinfg the little screen i have left on my laptop but i still cant seem to get it to work

does anyone know what im doing wrong?????

Usually there is a button which you can use to toggle the screen mode. not sure what make your laptop is but there is usually a 'fn' key down by the ctrl key which you hold and press the F key which has a picture of a monitor on it. If there is more than one mode you might have to press it several times.

Hope that makes sense.

As suggested above, try cycling through the various monitor functions (see laptop keyboard).

Otherwise perhaps try installing the monitor drivers... having said that, they really are much of a muchness.
