Band Aid 20

Recommended Posts

Every post is a boring essay, at the end of the day I don't want to buy this single neither does BM. I aint wasting 3 quid I aint got on 1 song. If we want to download it, or record of the radio then that is up to us.

Stop trying to make yourself sound like such a wonderfull person, and then writting paragraphs of bull.

I'm sure the children of Somalia will love to hear that.

No one said you should buy it, but downloading it or recording it is out of order. This song doesn't make the already rich artists richer, it's helping out starving people ffs!

Cobbo I aint got 3 quid mate, I'm babysitting tonight to have enough money footy which is my priority. I don't like the song enough to buy it but If i here a decentish song on the radio I'll record it like I have done here. The fact that it has been recorded for charity will not stop me doing this. If this is the case then every time I'm in the gym and the song is on the music channels then I shouldn't listen to it because I haven't brought it?

The radio and MTV is the advert for the song.

I haven't brought a cd single for a good 6/7 years. Every song I listen to I get of the Pc or radio. I aint changing that habit for 1 song just because it's for a good course. I don't even like the song that much anyway.

Bet none of you lot have stoll music of the pc or radio though

Different things, taking from a charitable cause and taking from a multi million pound record label and artist.

look, this country as a whole gives loads of dough to charity in the third world,

we are without doubt one of the most generous countries on the earth.

my favourite is children in need because it goes to the children of this great county

where as most goes abroad to countries who are worse ala band aid

fair enough people want to give to this good cause but like someone has pointed out charity begins at home.

and i personally havent bought the song or downloaded it.

if anyone wants to download it then fine by me it doesnt mean that they are out of order or bad people there are more bad people runnung the so-called better off countries than downloading songs off the internet.

this debate could go forever theres so many different points of view so its just a non starter really .

Yesterday, 08:02 PM Post #16

Either that or people would sooner spend £100 on there family for shit they dont need, i know what comes first.

Leicester or a commerical christmas?

Christmas needs a turkey and a few decorations, no need for people to make it such a money involving period.

Today, 06:13 PM Post #28

Oxfam?

You done all your christmas shopping there?!

Contradicting yourself a bit there arent you, saying christmas is too commercialised then taking the piss out of someone cos there a member of oxfam.

Never give to charity, never have and never will.

I give money to the homeless, thats my good deed. :)

Have a good time mate, and good cause.

Glad to see people doing things for charities.

BM, that's what you posted a month ago.

What is your stance?

I respect people giving money to charity and doing things for charites, nothing wrong with that.

Just something i dont do myself.

If i felt there was a shortage of people helping charities id consider but i think theres enough. :)

That's a bit of a selfish statement - in other words you don't need to give to charity because there are enough other people doing so.

Charity's are so over rated imo.

Everyone expects you to give to charity, but how many good dam charity's are there? I'm skint at the minute and I'm struggleing to by my own family xmas pressies. But yet if I a charity collecter came around asking for money and I din't put any in I'd be frowned on. How bloody bad of me!

When you pay 3 quid for a a charity single I bet only about 10p goes to the causes and the rest goes on people who work for the charity's. I'm not the kind of person who gets all sympathetic about people who live 000's of miles away from me. That doesn't make me a bad person, I just don't feel anything. I feel more inclinded to give money to charity's that will help local people or organisations.

Excatly, i bet 10p of that goes to charitys.

At least if i chuck a pound to a homeless person at least i know its all gone to him, probably put it towards drugs or something but thats his choice, ive done my bit.

Shows how much you know really doesn't it, quoting Teeno's bit aswell? I can't prove it but that's such a horrible accusation, if you saw the programme or heard Bob Geldof talking about it, you'd see how much this whole thing means to him. The video that they showed to the band aid participants was pure torture.

Teeno and Bm you have really disappointed me here, not that I'm the boss of you! But 3 Quid is such a measly sum of money! Yet it can easily save a life, how many lives could you save for a shitty piece of designer clothing?, the materials used cost bugger all and workers are exploited to make most of it. We are all greedy in western civilisation, we have the stigma that we need to wear fashionable clothes and it is drilled into us. Just detatch yourself a minute - what you have dont I don't agree with at all lads, it's immoral. You can slag me of all you like for this post, my views won't change. Buying this single is the chance to give something back!!

I'm not going to slag you off at all even though i dont agree with what you said.

I like you and i respect your opinions like people should accept mine, but that doesnt happen here, im a bad guy because of my view on it.

You're not a bad person because of your opinions, you can have them as long as they aren't criminal. And Yes I do respect your opinions aswell.

My comment is about the action of actual download, essentially stealing from charity!

okie dokie enough said on the matter from moi.

C'etait knackered.

It was knackered??

I'm sure you mean 'Je suis' knackered - even though that's not the correct way of putting it either!

Teeno

No one should frown on people not giving to charity but the easy thing to do is not worry about people thousands of miles away and we all do it. We've all been skint in our lives, it actually helps you to appreciate things a bit more. However, what we are talking about here is not about people being skint and struggling to buy presents for christmas, the reasons that this single has been made are;

1.6 million people dependent on food aid in Darfur, Sudan. This is likely to rise to two million by next year.

Almost 10 million people killed around the world every year through starvation.

Hunger and malnutrition kill more people every year than Aids, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

As for saying that 10p will go to where it matters, I don't know what the actual figure is but it will be many times higher than that I am sure.

Sold on CD for £3.99 and also available as a download, the new version is hot favourite to be Christmas number one in the UK this year.

Retailers expect to sell about 500,000 copies in its first week.

Retailers Woolworths and Virgin Megastores will give their proceeds to the Band Aid Trust charity, while Chancellor Gordon Brown has decided not to charge VAT.

The Band Aid Trust spent more than $144m (£77.5m) on famine relief in Africa between 1985 and the release of a Live Aid DVD earlier this month.

10 million people die every year in the world through starvation - thats the Walkers Stadium filled over 300 times with people that haven't got enough food to stay alive.

That might be acceptable in some people's books because it's not here. I don't agree.

hehe i'm good i brought 3copies :D

none for me tho! as they are all gifts! :D

plus the original is better!

trev u seem to be trying to put ur views so people buy into them!

Teeno and BM downloaded it, yes it's morally and also legally wrong but hundreds of people will, we have to live with it!

If you're that interested in it, buy the CD trash it, or ask the shop to keep it!

that way you're giving money to chariety and also allowing someone else to buyt the cd
