Maybe, just like a Leicester victory, ITV will gloss over the bad points and proclaim that with a bit of investment they could be world beaters again!

Thracian Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 It was years ago on a summertime FA coaching course at Victoria Park. There were 400 youngsters and 30-odd aspiring coaches. To round off the two-day course we had an 11-a-side competititon with teams drawn at random. Some of the players were worse than abyssmal - at least at first glance. But we had an hour to prepare them and those lads were heroes to a man. We won the final 1-0 and they did exactly what was required. I've always been proud of the teams I've been lucky enough to be involved with but that little side hold a special place in my heart because if you'd seen them, you'd know they performed a minor miracle that day. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the only sporting trophy some of em ever won but they'd have grown up alright. They all had heart and they all worked themselves to a standstill for each other.
Daggers Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 What has been your biggest triumph in the face of adversity? (e.g. Manwell winning a spelling contest ) During civil insurrection in Caracas, I traversed the city to get my family on the last flight out of the country. We had to suffer 9 days on a Carribean island until told it was safe enough to return. This was not as good as when we were stranded in an all-inclusive 5* hotel on Aruba due to the consultate losing our passports while trying authorise our visas. Seventeen days we were stuck in that God-forsaken place
