Bert Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 ok, no need to snap! I weren't snapping pal, just merely stating the fact.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 I suppose now they've signed the prolific Welsh, it won't matter if we only have 2 fit strikers. This injury shit is getting beyond a joke though. Dodds would probably of got a sniff tomorrow aswell. Thinking about it more and more, we haven't got a single (fit) midfielder who could play up front. Surely he's going to have to include either Odihambo or McKay on the bench? (won't be Chambers, lack of match practice.)
Thracian Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 no but know the lad I can guess who you are (I think) and I believe you. How long's he out for?.
treacle Posted 20 October 2006 Author Posted 20 October 2006 I weren't snapping pal, just merely stating the fact. ok, well if you know the players and i do, then maybe we know eachother!!!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 Well, we only had 17 'first team' players fit before today so if O'Grady is injured that would leave us with just 16 and three of them are 'keepers. May be a little too late to recall Sheehan or Dodds as we are are so close to a matchday although in theory, if O'Grady was injured yesterday then we're within our rights to bring them back as long as we put a 24 hour recall into their deals which we more than likely did. If not, it could be a chance to promote Gradel. Although he's not a striker, I think Welsh could drop behind a lone striker during a match depending on the situation and Gradel could come off the bench and play on either wing.
gatesheadfox Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 fine i wont say any more as cant tell you who i am why not? you on the run or something?
treacle Posted 20 October 2006 Author Posted 20 October 2006 why not? you on the run or something? no its just that i dont wana giv my name out on the net!
gatesheadfox Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 no its just that i dont wana giv my name out on the net! ahh go on. as you are in the know, do we actually have many players who aren't injured??
treacle Posted 20 October 2006 Author Posted 20 October 2006 ahh go on. as you are in the know, do we actually have many players who aren't injured?? i know they all seem to be gettin injured. not got much else to tell really
Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 no its just that i dont wana giv my name out on the net! That's fair enough. If you can supply information that we wouldn't know otherwise, and it's true, then there's no need for us to know who you are.
Magic No. 8 Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 please God no! A disaster if he has to miss another game he wouldn't have scored in!
Bert Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 Yep, a lot of them took knocks in training yesterday apparently.
Ric Flair Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 King, Odihambo and Gradel all have their best chance of first team action they are going to get this season. If none get anywhere near the 16 tomorrow then we can rule them out for this season.

Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 well i will if i find anything out about em, il be sure to put it on, aslong as it relates to football! Nice one. Of course if it's to do with their private lives it's none of our business, it's just the stuff that you'd like to think the official website would tell us but don't that I'm interested in such as injuries etc.

I sometimes wonder if manager'e get flak from the PFA if they leave out contract professionals too often in favour of Academy players, alerted no doubt, by the contract professional's agent. Andy King and Stephen Hughes contest the same position. There are various qualities required for that position and I'll try to give a realistic rating of each player in respect of those qualities as far as I've seen it these last few months. 1) Ball winning: ...... Hughes 4 KIng 6 2) Distribution .........Hughes 4 King 7 3) Goalscoring ........Hughes 3 King 7 4) Attacking box......Hughes 3 King 8 5) Heading..............Hughes 3 King 7 6) Dribbling ............Hughes 3 King 6 7) Energy ..............Hughes 6 King 6 8) Vision................Hughes 3 King 7 9) Strength............Hughes 5 King 6 10) Movement........Hughes 4 King 8 I might be out a point or two here or there but 38 points to 68 isn't even close.

If that's so then, that's great for the future, but your bias to youth team players means they are always going to come out on top. Also you must remember that King has only played at academy and reserve (??) level, the next step up is very big, can you remember all them things we heard about Ashton, Stevenson, Heath, and look where they all are now, and look how distinctly avergae they were for us. I hope what you're saying is right Thracian though.
Swedging Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 Yep, a lot of them took knocks in training yesterday apparently. Is there some training exercise they do where they have to kick each other's legs as hard as possible?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 Is there some training exercise they do where they have to kick each other's legs as hard as possible? Preparation for Leeds.

I hope what you're saying is right Thracian though. I never saw Ashton, Stevenson or Heath. I can also be biased towards old players when they're good - Guppy, Dickov and Cottee were examples, Marshall and Walsh were others. It's when they're not as good as those they keep out that I get pissed off.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 Whenever I saw King last season, he was used as a winger or full back so I think he's a little like Levi Porter who was used as a wideman throughout his academy years and only seemed to move into the middle of the park during the last season or so. I still think King would be used as a winger if he was to make it into the first team and not a central midfielder. Playing there for the 18s is a way of helping him learn other roles. All part of his footballing education if you ask me.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 What was he like on the wing? He didn't seem particularly quick the only time I saw him.

Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 October 2006 Posted 20 October 2006 What was he like on the wing? He didn't seem particularly quick the only time I saw him. Not too bad, managed to create a few chances and worked his way into the box regularly. He isn't the quickest but he's quite tricky with the ball at his feet. He wasn't the kind of winger who would beat his man with pace and then cross the ball. He seemed more of a give-and-go type and of course he's a threat at the back post when the ball's on the opposite flank due to his heading ability. Think he was just filling in at full back one game because we changed our formation for the second half and he pushed forward and had a much better half as awinger.
