Jordan Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 The Gossip were very good as a straight-up one guitar, one drum set, one singer garage band a few years back. Beth Ditto has an awesome voice... ...but the stuff I've heard off their new release "Standing in the Way of Control" kinda sounds like they added a little too much lame new wave throwback shit, which is disappointing and why I haven't given that album a proper listening.
The People's Hero Posted 17 November 2006 Posted 17 November 2006 I have the album and have been enjoying it quite a lot. Listening to it at work now. I like her voice, which is rare for me with female vocalists. The soulwax arrangement/mix of Standing in the way of Control is exceptional.
