Scow Posted 21 December 2004 Posted 21 December 2004 Ipswich 2-1 Wigan Wigan took the lead through a fantastic strike by Leighton Baines - A 40 yard piledriver with his left peg, Roberto Carlos like. However, Ipswich outplayed Wigan for long periods and were deserving winners. Richard Naylor equalised, before Darren Bent hit a late winner to send Ipswich top. Player that impressed me most was Darren Currie from Ipswich - Two footed, very skillful, and a excellent crosser of the ball. Only cost them £250k from Brighton recently, bargain.
MON Posted 21 December 2004 Posted 21 December 2004 I know currie was class. Not paceful but ecxellent on the ball. Just showed how far away we are from these two teams, in terms of footballing genius. It was a amazing match, did the championship proud.
Mark Posted 21 December 2004 Posted 21 December 2004 Saw Currie playing for Wycombe a few years ago, didn't think much of him at the time so i'm suprised he's come this far. He's quite old as well, think he's about 30. Thanks Benty some more points on the board for my team
Anish Posted 21 December 2004 Posted 21 December 2004 Well hopefully that will mean Nathan Wellington won't be on here for a few more days at least.
Guest Daniel Posted 21 December 2004 Posted 21 December 2004 They are still a better team and higher in the division than we are. He aint got much to be ashamed about, i bet he'll stay off the Ipswich boards this week though.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 22 December 2004 Posted 22 December 2004 that second goal from them was always going to come and it was a shame it came in the 89th min. nothing fell for us today and it was just a bad day in the office but i think we can safely say that we saw the goal of the season tonight btw, we're still going up i'm afraid

I'd be really pleased if I thought my team had a chance of promotion. Some people don't know how lucky they are, how ungrateful can you get!
Phil Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 I thought we (being a Town fan) played well in last nights game tho we have and can play better, Currie was great again and is exactly what we need at the moment and he cost us money which is a good thing because of our administration etc etc, it was very good entertain football that you'd expect from ipswich (being an attacking side) cant wait to see your boys at fortress PR, BTW thanks for the own goal you gae us at your place earlier in the season
Guest Daniel Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 Dont come here getting cocky boy or you'll be going out the door head first. Only messing pal. Glad we got another fan here, behave yourself. You deserve to be top, best team in this division.

Scow Posted 23 December 2004 Author Posted 23 December 2004 We never seem to beat Ipswich, it's quite annoying actually.
Craig Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 We never seem to beat Ipswich, it's quite annoying actually. 48946 Too true <_< Boogey team <_<
Phil Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 We never seem to beat Ipswich, it's quite annoying actually. 48946 *points and laughs* Well lil bit like ourselves and Nottingham forest no mater how badly they are doing at the time, we cant beat them they were the last team to beat us in any comptition way back in April and In that time we have beaten 2 premierships sides and a la liga side.
Scow Posted 23 December 2004 Author Posted 23 December 2004 To be fair, we should have beaten you earlier this season. It was a strange game for a number of reasons. We completely dominated the first half, which Royle admitted after the game that no team has put you under so much pressure this season. But after we scored the second goal through Heath, we sat back and you did the same to us. I think maybe all our players were in shock that Heath could score such a goal from outside the area. But I suppose it had to even out and an own goal epitomised how shite he really is.
Phil Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 yer from what I heard you should have beaten us, don't think I'll ever forget that own goal for as long as I live and I'm only 17 and only saw it on the telly, think Heath must have had a bet on the game or something
