breadandcheese Posted 30 December 2004 Posted 30 December 2004 Seems to me our problem has always been competing in the midfield. Martin "The Messiah" O'Neill knew the only way we could compete in the Premiership was to pack our midfield and hassle. Savage, Izzet and Lennon would stop opposing midfields. It's sad that in the championship, amongst all the shit teams (and we have played some shit teams), I am having to say our midfield is unable to compete. We have to play 5 across the centre to attempt to fix this, until next summer when we get some money in and contracts run out. 3-5-2 all the way. Here's my team. --------------------Taylor ---------Stearman Keown Dublin Gemmill Dawson Gudjonnson Stewart -------------------Williams -----------Scowcroft Connolly Subs Wright Porter Nalis Heath Morris When is Canero fit? he'd be fantastic down the right. And yes, I know I have Scowcroft playing, but there are no alternatives that I can see. Not convinced by Tommy Wright, Benjamin lacks skill or ability, and since Dublin's neck injury when at Villa, he's never looked good up front.
Scow Posted 30 December 2004 Posted 30 December 2004 Canero's a mystery to everyone - He's suddenly gets a run in the side and plays well. Then he is nowhere to be seen. It takes the club a few weeks to confirm he has a knee injury, but we've not been kept up to date with his progress. It seems a bit dodgy to me. As for that team, Gemmill right wing back? You need someone with energy to play that position, so I would stick Gudjonsson there if we were to play that formation.

I agree with you though, we need someone with energy down the right. I only picked Gemmill there because he used to play down the right flank, so think he would be a better bet down the right than gudjonsson. If anyone finds anything out about Canero, please post it. I thought he looked more than promising when he got that run in the side. He supported Gillespie down the wing, and wasn't afraid to run, challenge and actually show some effort.
